This place was straight fire. Me and a buddy were down in cincy for the evening an came across this fabulous establishment. First of we sat at the bar and service was on point. So already off to a great start. Second, the food. My god that food. One of my favorite things was were the skyline tater tots. Very much worth it and will be back again very soon.
If it's a beautiful day in downtown Cincinnati and you want to enjoy a good casual dining experience outside, head over to the Pendleton area in Over The Rhine to Nation Kitchen & Bar. Good draft beer selection too. Left to right, you will see Guinness Stout, Sonder's You Betcha Hazy Juicy IPA, The Phoenix, The Hangover Burger and The Temperance Burger. Very reasonable prices and completely satisfied.
I'm going to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say that I think they're probably better than my experience and I'm sure that when they're busy and in full stride, their food is more 4 star-ish than a 3. I ordered a Nation burger, my wife ordered the Quesadilla, and our friend ordered the Memphis BBQ burger. I was surprised when we weren't asked how we'd like our burger down. Mine was served a solid medium and I like it a little more rare but it wasn't overcooked. The bun seemed dry, almost as if it were slightly stale and the burger needed more sauce. My wife had the same sauce issue with her Quesadilla burger, which to me resembled a patty melt wrapped in a tortilla. The Tots, Totcho style, were the hit of the table, and I could see where a big plate of these along with a few beers would cause you to give this place two thumbs up. The corn dog appetizer was a winner as well. I'm use to a more savory version of this but the honey flavor in the corn batter definitely wasn't offensive at all - in fact, quite nice. The honey mustard sauce accentuated the sweetness of the corn dog a little too much to my liking and the siracha in the siracha ketchup got lost to the sweetness of the ketchup and the honey in the corndog batter. Still, not a bad appetizer and definitely something that would complement a few good beers. I might give this place a 2nd look during busier hours because I loved the location and the building they were in. If you go, make sure you take a trip down the block to the ice cream store that is there - worth the trip, especially their espresso soft serve ice cream!
There are very few places that serves tots as a side, but Nation takes it a step further with toppings for the tots. They also server sweet potato tots which are also really delicious! I ordered the burger of the month which was the Five Alarm Burger and it's a burger I would give a 5 out of 5. Everything was fresh and the buns were perfectly toasted and soft.
I really liked their brunch. The staff was nice. The place was very clean. The food was good. The prices were great! I will definitely be back!
I won't share how odd my experience was because that's what happens when you're short staffed but my food was just okay. For the price the fries or tots should come with the meal bit I blame inflation lol
I broke a fast on beef, and I ended up having one of the better burgers I have ever had that was the first time we went a few weeks ago. I recently purchased a chicken wrap, and it was equally as tasty. Point is, the food is good! The actual location is well-done too. Thanks!
The food and service was fantastic. We sat at the bar with Allison and she was polite and funny. I will definitely be going back.
It was a really awesome place to eat. The server was fantastic, the food was great, the establishment was clean and had an old time feel with a refurbished look. Took a ton of pictures all around, inside and out.Food: 5/5
The staff was very kind however the food was overpriced and not well cooked. We tried a caveman style vegetarian burger for $14. It came on a paper plate with two lettuce pieces, one patty and two tiny pieces of avocado that were still frozen. No tomatoes or onions or cheese and definitely no fries. It was so shabby and quite frankly, the worst burger we've had.
