Easy to find location with plenty of seating. Impossibly large, messy burgers ready in less than 15 minutes! We may go back later to try dessert. Overall, an enjoyable experience for my dining companion's birthday.
Has the feel of an old burger shop. The food is good. The service is pleasant. I love that the burgers are cooked to order and have a good amount of vegetables. But if you are going, try the pies. It’s a tradition for me to get one of their strawberry tarts in June. It’s basically a small strawberry pie, and it’s delicious.Food: 5/5
We were not served. After paying over $60 for for breakfast, only one of our parties meal burrito was completed. Four similar orders who arrived after us were served. After checking on our order, I find it was only just then started to cook. So, I asked for my money back, the cashier argued at first, but after I explained no mater how well it was made we would not be enjoying our Saturday morning there at Nations. And, personally I think it is a disservice to all, to reward bad business.
I am no stranger to "Nation's Giant Hamburgers" as I frequented many of their locations when I used to live in the Bay Area. Since it had been well over two decades my last time eating at one of their locations was around 1998-99, I figure I was due for my Nation's fix. This takes me on a trip to the Sunrise Marketplace in Citrus Heights where I finally had the opportunity trying their delicious burgers. Located directly on busy Sunrise Blvd. and just north of Madison Ave. in Citrus Heights, this Nation's location has been around since late-2011. Which is very surprising considering the amount of eateries that come and go; particularly in this part of town. I came here on the evening of Friday 8/27/2021 at around 6:45pm. Parking was very easy to find and there were a ton of open spaces available. And many people may not know this; as of late-2021, this is the only Nation's Giant Hamburgers in the Sacramento area with many of their locations in the Bay Area and a few locations in the San Joaquin Valley. As far as the inside goes, this place is very spacious. Considering there was only one other customer dining in during my visit, the place had plenty of available seating throughout with a significant amount of tables and booths. I almost consider the look and feel of this place resembling a small modern diner; especially since they specialize in sweet treats such as their famous pies with over a dozen to choose from. They also have a large dedicated breakfast menu as well as chicken sandwiches, fish burgers, BLT's, chili dogs, and of course what they are known for which is their standard burgers. Since I wanted the burger experience, I went the simple route by ordering a plain "Hamburger" with everything on it, a side of fries and a drink. Total price came to around $12 after tax. This place offers a self-serve fountain drink area and a condiment station which includes ketchup and hot sauce. After my order was ready, I was ready to indulge to find out if this place was as good as I remember. After the first bite, the overall flavor and taste was well above average. The burger was seasoned to perfection while the bun had the right amount of consistency. They also packed a ton of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and pickles as those are available upon request. The fries were soft on the inside with the right amount of crisp on the outside. Overall, "Nation's Giant Hamburgers" was an above average experience. Service was just average as many of the employees really didn't converse with me when I ordered or when I received my food. Keep in mind that this part of town has some competition with "Smashburger" and "The Habit" being less than 1/2 mile away. But for a delicious, generous sized burger, definitely give Nation's a try. My rating, a solid four stars.
Saturday, 1/06/2024 - We finally stopped by "Nation's Giant Hamburgers & Great Pies" for dinner. Our 1st time. Sure glad we came. Because they have some awesome pies! Address is 5450 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610. Upon arrival... Pros 1 small parking lot. But we found parking easily. 2 there was no line when we arrived. 3 the cashier was a very nice, friendly and professional lady. 4 We got the salmon burger, chili cheese dog, fries and drink. 5 restaurant was pretty clean. I didn't see any dirty tables. Even the table with the napkins, straws, soda machine, etc was clean! 6 Wild salmon burger tasted great. It was $10.25. Chili cheese dog was pretty good too. It's $10.15 for it. They provided real forks! Not plastic forks. Fries are fries. It's good. Fries are $3.50. See photos. 7 we got 1/2 coconut cream pie and 1/2 banana cream pie. It costs $11.60 for half a pie. 8 pie tasted delicious!!! We'll be coming here for pie more often! I can taste the coconut and the banana in each of the pies. They had many pie options. I want to go try other pies now. ; 8 women's bathroom was clean. Cons 1 none Conclusion We liked this restaurant. We plan to come here again and try the burgers. For sure we'll come back for the pies. If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, you should! It's quick and easy and great pies!
I love the simplicity of the restaurant and menu options. The food is always consistently good. The employees are friendly and efficient. I’ve only ever come for breakfast; the French toast is my favorite. The restaurant is clean. And you cannot beat the buy one get one for $1 coupons that come in the mail. Less than $20 for 2 people for breakfast and coffee, yes please
Ordered a chicken sandwich and a salmon sandwich to go. The salmon was delicious, a little crispy around the edges topped with a generous slab of tomato and a heaping pile of lettuce surrounded by a whole wheat bun. Had to cut it in half first in order to get my mouth around it. I can't give much feedback regarding the chicken sandwich because it was consumed by my daughter but she did give me a thumbs up while her mouth was full. Parking: In a small strip mall.
Food seems to be going downhill at Nations. Not as good as it used to be. Service is okay. At least it's human and not a kiosk. But kind of seemed like they didn't want to be at work if that makes any sense. Weren't very friendly. Atmosphere was okay but just not many people there so it just felt empty. Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of space and no stairs
We went to purchase pies for Christmas day meal. Which were great. I'd purchase more when needed. But the lunch, burger, we ate were awful. I had the bacon burger with fries. Fries were warm, but not great. Nothing to talk about. The burger was given to me with 3 round slice of onion, 3 whole round. It had 3 whole round of tomatoes. The buns had caked on mayonaise as I bit the burger, it squirted out the sides covering my hands. Worst part was that the lettuce was wilted. They placed a steaming hot hamburger party on the lettuce. The steam and heat from the patty wilted and soaked the lettuce and it was GROSS!. We'll go back for the pies, but never eat burger there. SAD.
Damn the bacon cheese burger was bomb Reminded me of old style burger Highly recommended The fries were good also!!! I wanted to try one of their pies but was really full. They looked yummy...
