After two disappointing visits with different stylists at this salon, I wouldn't recommend it to others. My first visit involved the stylist roughly combing through my dry hair, without bothering to add any product to reduce breakage and improve handling. I got a simple style of medium two strand twists and was not impressed with the end result for $60. I spoke with the owner about my experience--who seemed sympathetic-- so I decided to try again with a different stylist. With the next visit, my stylist arrived over twenty minutes late, and I still ended up waiting about 10 minutes more for her to get everything set up. I understand that they had just moved to a new location, but she didn't seem like it was much concern to her that she started on my hair about 30 minutes late. They have a policy where they charge customers a fee for being more than 15 minutes late, yet she arrived very late and didn't offer any discounts for her tardiness. It's a poor representation of the business and shows a lack of professionalism. The one thing the stylists do well is offer hair care advice and recommend products to maintain good hair health. As for styling, my experience is that it was mediocre at best. If you value your time and want good value for your money, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I went in for a consultation but I ended up getting my hair done. My stylist was Romika. She was very professional, informative, and did a WONDERFUL job on my hair. She gave me many styling options even though I had serious hair issues. I was very pleased and booked another appointment.

So I got my hair braided a few weeks ago and these are my pros and cons Pros: 1)The salon is really clean 2)All of the staff are nice and professional 3)They’re pretty good with scheduling Cons: 1)They didn’t have the length of hair that I wanted so my look was completely the wrong length. There’s also a beauty supply nearby which I wish I would’ve known because I would have just bought the hair myself. 2)They also didn’t have the color that I wanted so the look was the wrong color 3)The stylist burned the length of the braids causing a lot of little plastic hairs to shed all over me and my apartment 4) This is probably my biggest complaint. When she burned the length of the braids she also burned my real hair. I ended up having to cut about an inch of my real hair because the ends were just completely burned and fried. All together I paid nearly 200 dollars and wasted half a day for a look I didn’t like, a mess I had to clean up, and to have my hair burned off. With that said the braiding itself wasn’t bad. But do NOT under any circumstances let them burn your braids. And be sure to call ahead to make sure they have the supplies for the style you actually want

My husband's birthday is today and yesterday morning I went to this salon to get my hair done. I hardly ever have time to do my hair because it's so thick and curly. I also have 2 kids and my husband is in his last year of residency so money is tight. But for my guy's birthday, I'm throwing him a surprise party and wanted to look really nice. Anyway, so I went to the salon for my appointment and the stylist didn't even say hi to me. She just awkwardly told be she was going to "check my hair". She parted it a few times and then told me I could go over to the bowl for my shampoo. She shampooed my hair and I sat under the steamer for a hydration treatment. At this point there were no problems. After like 5 minutes, she turned off the steamer and told me to sit in her chair for my blow dry. ( I was getting a blowout). At that point she parts my hair to begin the blowout and says, "there's something in your hair!" She calls over the owner of the salon who says to me, in full hearing of the other customer in the salon, "I think you have fungus on your scalp. Do you take any medication?" At this point, I was pretty embarrassed and didn't know what to say. I don't even know what I said. I think I was like, "I think it's product buildup". I'm pretty certain I don't have fungus on my scalp. I mean, I feel like I would've noticed something like that. But, with my hair soaking wet, the owner told me I had to leave the salon and couldn't come back until I had a doctors note saying there weren't any problems with my scalp. I've never in my life had this happen to me. Of course I called my husband who is an OB/ Gyn, so someone with an actual medical degree, in tears and he was like, you would know if you have something like that in your hair. You don't have that. Maybe she didn't wash your hair properly. It was so humiliating. So then, I called the salon and tried to talk to the owner and she was basically like, we can't service you. I went home and had my husband check through my hair and he saw nothing of any kind of concern. The whole experience was really bizarre. I just felt so humiliated and disrespected. I obviously won't be going back there but there aren't many places in our city that can do African American hair well. And I just keep thinking about it because the experience was so jarring. Ugh.
