Story

Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., was established in 1929 and has been serving Lyndhurst and the surrounding communities for some 85 years. Peter J. Nazare began providing services to the local community out of his home on Pennsylvania Avenue. As the business grew, he purchased a single family home on the corner of Ridge Road and Fern Avenue. In 1944, when Peter died, his brother, Joseph J. Nazare took over. Known as "Bib" to many, Mr. Nazare owned and operated the funeral home for some 30 years. His oldest son, Joseph M. Nazare, worked in and around the funeral home from age 14, became a Licenced Funeral Director in 1965 and continued in the family line of service with his father until his fathers' death in 1976. Joseph J.'s youngest son, Robert J. Nazare worked alongside his brother until his untimely death in 2000. That same year, Joseph's daughter, Karen received her license and has joined her father in the family business.
