I just got off the phone with the receptionist and sitting here extremely upset over what just happened. I had called earlier this month when I found out I was pregnant to schedule my first OB appointment. Unfortunately I am switching jobs and I wont be covered by insurance until the following month so when my first appointment comes I will not be covered. I had called yesterday to ask if there is anyway anyone can see me this next week to get me through my first OB appointment until my insurance kicks in. The receptionist working yesterday was very understanding and said just to call today as open appointments for the following week are not available until the morning. So that is what I did. When I explained my situation to the receptionist working today she was down right rude and first would not listen to my concern of insurance. She told me there is no way we can reschedule for next week with anyone because the first appointment takes 30 minutes and she cannot help me. I then asked to speak with a nurse not to undermine her but to ask if it was okay that I wait to schedule my first OB appointment until 13 weeks of pregnancy. She YELLED at me that she wont be able to help me either and there are no appointments open. I am sitting here as a first time pregnant mother extremely upset. I am an ICU nurse and I cannot comprehend treating someone let alone a future patient, who is new to any situation, like this. They need to teach this certain receptionist good patient care.
