I got food from there 2 days ago and ordered in advance over the phone about 10 mins. Before I came food was very hot, okay cool. I open it I can automatically tell the food is recooked and old sesame chicken was super dark. Im hungry so I take a bite and it’s super chewy and mushy since it has been recooked. I literally threw it away. And with the little bit I did eat my stomach was hurting. Customers can tell when you give us old food !!! Stop doing that!! Luckily enough for this restaurant I do not live close by.
We frequented this restaurant a good amount in late 2020 through middle of 2021, we traveled from West Haven to get their food because it was was soooooooo good. Welp we got something from there a couple of weeks ago in 2022 and the food was not the same. Thought maybe it was a off day for restuarant, so we gave it another try. The chicken wing were cooked so hard the tips were crunchy and I am not taking about the batter. The sesame chicken . Must be new owners, so we are done going there.
I have been ordering my Chinese food from New Great Wall for about 9 years. They have some very tasty steamed dumplings, very thin dough. Singapore noodle are excellent. Egg rolls are crispy and not oily. Fried rice is also good, General Tso chicken was nice a crispy, not soggy. Customer service as always was great. I just wish that they had the house mustard. But then again, I just make it at home.
Very fast and fresh food, their portion sizes were great and best thing was that the dipping sauce for the fried dumplings was soy sauce, garlic, ginger and sesame oil, nothing basic about this place!Dine in: NoOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
I’m always suspicious when a reviewer states that “all these other reviews are ‘manufactured’”. How could they know that? And especially when that reviewer has written so few reviews themself, and most other reviews of this place are very positive. As if there were some grand conspiracy to inflate the perception of this little take-out restaurant. So I ask, who is really ”manufacturing” reviews? Anyway, here’s my non-manufactured review. I was very pleasantly surprised by both the quality and value of my first time ordering food at The New Great Wall. I called ahead which was a good thing considering there are only two very small tables in the restaurant. My order was hot and ready upon arrival. The gent behind the counter was very friendly and when I asked if they deliver, he said yes, but call first to be sure they have someone on hand to do it. Fair enough. My meal was very, very good, and not at all salty like you can find in many Asian restaurants I've had food from. The chicken rice soup was just that; a flavorful broth, with a decent amount of chicken and lots of rice. The shrimp with vegetables was a very generous portion with a good amount of shrimp and plenty of clearly fresh, crunchy-cooked vegetables, also not salty. It came with a good portion of sticky white rice. The other part of my order was their "house special fried rice". Again, very well prepared and flavorful, with shrimp, pork, chicken, and veggies in it. I'll be certain to return or have delivery next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food. It was a very good meal!
Very tasty and reasonable with generous portions!Food: 5/5
Store hrs are bs who is closed on a sunday lol also closed during the middle of week and yes you are expensive af too and food aint even all that ive had bettwr
My experience with this restaurant is strictly with their lunch specials. They are very reasonably priced, and all of the dishes I have tried are made fresh and taste good. This is primarily a takeout restaurant, with a few scattered tables if you want to eat there. The food comes out in a timely fashion, and the staff there is friendly. The restaurant a bit set back off the road, so it pays to look for the sign on the street.
We ordered a chicken and broccoli dish. The people were nice, but I have to say, the food - the chicken - was awful. Little pieces of ground-up gristle and skin mixed in with some pieces of meat that had the shape of earthworms, for Heaven's sake. Neither of us could figure out what kind of meat it was - there was no flavor, just a vaguely "meaty" taste. We're not tishy - can eat almost anything - but after a couple of bites, neither one of us could keep on going. It was one of the two worst meals I've had, in my sixty years of adult life. If this is normal for them, they oughta be shut down by the Board of Health. Hopefully, it's not.
I got some General sows chicken I asked for it crispy extra crispy. I got one piece of Broccoli that was undercooked. The general Tso’s chicken was soggy as soggy can be. Do not go here they don’t care about what they cook just slap it together play sucks
