This is a great place to stop while traveling. It gets you out of the car for a bit and you can see the bridge from a nice observation deck.

Area was beautiful but frustrating to get decent directions to access trails. National park website links were not working and road and trail signs were not marked well.

I rented the Royale vacation home for my wedding. I called several times and ended up driving to the office on the day of my wedding to find out if the cleaning lady was finished, when I really didn't have the time, just for the lady to say she called me back and didn't get an answer, even though I never received a call. The view from the overlook at the ceremony was great, minus the random tourists that walked through. But I was really disappointed with the house. We couldn't use the garage and several closets and a room was locked inside, several light bulbs were blown, and the side door lock was broke and when we locked it at night and then tried to unlock it, it wouldn't unlock, we ended up taking it apart and fixing it ourselves. We turned the hot tub down a little because it was incredibly hot and then it was really cold, so we turned it back up and it never got warm again. We were going to use the jet bathtub, but when we turned the cold water on, nothing came out, it was like it was disconnected. We were going to sleep on the pull out couch in the living room, considering it is the only room with a television, and the sign next to the door said the sheets for the pull out bed were in the closet, well, the closet was locked, not to mention it was an extremely thin and uncomfortable bed. And if you want to use the fire place be prepared to get burnt. And there are no curtains or blinds on any of the windows in the kitchen or living room. By the time we realized most things it was in the evening and there was no way to get a hold of anyone when we called. It was a nice house from the outside and we couldn't have known about the inside because we weren't able to view the inside ourselves before we rented. Most things were simply an annoyance, but for the amount that we paid to rent this place, they should have been taken care of before we got there. I am just extremely disappointed with the house because it was for my wedding. If you do decide to rent a vacation home through the New River Gorge Preserve make sure you can go in and look around yourself and make sure everything works properly so you don't pay a ton of money for a disappointment.
