A non-profit day school dedicated to serving the needs of children and adolescents experiencing difficulties in traditional classrooms.
New Vistas School is the leader in educating children with exceptional needs in Central Virginia and has served more than 750 children with a specific Learning Disability (LD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In recent years, given the unexpected increase in children diagnosed with Autism, High Functioning, New Vistas has begun to serve this population as well.
A challenging and flexible curriculum is offered within a small, noncompetitive, supportive environment. Class size is generally between two to six students in a personal atmosphere of encouragement, support, challenge, and caring. Academic goals are set for each student according to his or her skills, interests, and abilities.
New Vistas School is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education, accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, and is a member of The International Dyslexia Association.
