Newport Blues is a Newport, RI premier restaurant and live music entertainment complex "Voted #1" for ten years straight by Newport Life Magazine, "Voted #1" four years straight by RI Monthly Magazine, and nominated "Best Live Music Venue" by the Providence Phoenix, the Newport Blues Cafe serves up way more than just blues each and every season.

Recognized as a world premiere live-music club and presenting national acts in a city known for its music festivals, the Newport Blues Cafe is a New York City-style cafe and nightclub located on historic Thames Street in the heart of downtown Newport, RI.

They do a great job with the talent and every time I go I have the best time.  Sarge always greets us with a smile and conversation at the door and makes us feel welcome.   The atmosphere is always fun and lively, and it's a mandatory stop for my friends and me each night we are in Newport. I like that the bar attracts a diverse range of ages and everyone has the common goal of having fun.

This place was the absolute WORST. The staff not only doesn't know how to make drinks, but they are EXTREMELY rude. The blonde "manager" knows nothing about customer service and seems to be miserable at her job if she can't serve people with common respect, courtesy, or at least a smile. Safe to say save your money and RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

The live music is always excellent, drinks are good although a bit expansive. The real focal point of this bar is the live music, bands that come in to jam out, have a great time, and ensure the crowd is really digging their tunes. Don't let the name fool you, it may be called the Blues Cafe, but they play a great assortment of music.

Newport Blues Cafe is a great place to listen and dance to live music. Don't let the name fool you, there is much more than the blues here. The cover bands play current top 40, dance, hip hop, rock, country, and as the employees say "the bands play a little bit of everything". If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy a drink with the person you just met or the people who you came with, there are plenty of spots to do just that, relax, enjoy the conversation and do some people watching. The upstairs bar has seating and a large cut out to watch the band and people dancing down below. The bank vault room holds a pool table and extra seating. The staff is friendly and does all they can to make sure you have a great experience. All you need to do is enjoy the music, drinks, bar menu (until 10, but the door men always suggest great places to eat elsewhere if the Blues kitchen is closed). If someone is causing a disturbance the security staff resolves the situation quickly and efficiently. That's why the Blues is consistently voted "best girls night out" in Newport.  Enjoy...

Nice place to go see a concert. Only thing i would like to see fixed, is making sure customers can get out before or at any during the concert. We had a rough time leaving. It was very crowded and people were extremely rude in letting us do so. Other than that, the bartenders and security we're great.
