When I called to make a reservation I told the owner that this would be my first vacation in 13 years. I wa travelling to North Georgia to see the eclipse. She told me that she didn't have any tent sites left, but that she could put me in her yard. I asked specific questions about the facilities to ensure that I would be comfortable, and she gave all the right answers. I get to this campground, take one look at her junk and broken glass filled yard and almost cried. She offered me a spot behind her house, next to a junked tilted jacuzzi and other junk sitting in a sea of broken glass. One bathroom facility (filthy) didn't even have sinks for handwashing. The showers and bath mats were so disgusting I went five days and four nights with washcloth baths in my tent, and washing my hair with bottled water. I had specifically asked whether there was Tallulah River access. She said yes, that she had four miles of the Tallulah River on site, and that there was access "between the RVs." No. There was a *7-line barbed wire fence* between the campsites and the river. I spent the first two days trying to find this elusive access to the river. I did find an area near a tent site where I could break both legs climbing down 45° 8' to the river, but the campers told me to scram, those were their campsites. Horrid.

From what I've seen any campground on Tallulah River road is just beautiful.

Nichols is a hidden gem in the beautiful persimmon area of Rabun County. Access to hunting and trout fishing are literally within steps of your camp and the river runs parallel to the grounds. This is not a fancy flashy stage coach show where they put more effort into appearances than guest interaction. oh no.....Nichols is quite different, as the owners are onsite and are active in your stay. They make sure that you are comfortable, well, and taken care of. The facilities are simple, yet clean, and the grounds are very well kept. It's like being in your own private mountain heaven! Jud and Clarice are wonderful! Drive up Tallulah River Road to one of the many fishing/swimming spots or go anywhere else around the immediate area to enjoy yourself. Beauty is abundant.
