It was just a bunch of teenagers hanging out on their phones serving ice cream after 5 PM that just came out of a machine. It has become an overpriced self serve ice cream location that we will not be going back to. On top of it the heater didn't even work so what we wanted to be a date night turned out to be an experience we won't do again. I'm sad right this review because we used to absolutely love this place.
Two words...disgusting and expensive! My family of five went in for some food and custard. We ordered 5 concrete custards, 3 orders of mozzerella sticks, one cheeseburger, one fry, one drink, one grilled cheese, and a roastbeef grinder. Total cost $76! Wow! The custards are now $6.50 a piece! Custards came out first and were good. The rest of the meal was awful. The grinder was drenched in mayonaise...couldn't eat it. The grilled cheese was made out if a handburger bun backwards so you couldn't tell....cheese wasn't even melted. The mozzarella sticks were not melted and cold in the center. Run by a bunch of teenagers ..no adult supervision. They remade part of the meal. The whole time I wished we would've gone to Culver's. Don't waste your money here!
I don't want to admit to the number of times I've been to Nielsen's for a concrete. I grew up in Davis County. I've eaten at five different locations. Last night, my wife and I needed a break from the 100°F temperatures and headed over for some frozen custard. My wife ordered a concrete with the flavor of the day they have vanilla and chocolate plus one additional flavor each day, raspberry, with brownie. I got chocolate with Oreos. We ate out at the picnic tables as the sun set. The concretes were perfect. The staff was friendly and quick. I'm sure we'll be back soon.
Lately we have been very underwhelmed with the flavors. As a patron of many years, your business has continued to cut back on flavorings and mix ins but do continue to raise prices. I hope that this message gets to someone that can see that a proud family tradition please manage your staff to make the concretes like the good old days... where the flavors were the best in the state and you felt there Custard was worth every penny
First time visiting this Nielsens location. I ordered a ‘Concrete’ which turned out to be melted ice cream. I could practically sip it through a straw. Without wanting to cause a fuss or anything, especially seeing how distracted the kids were on their phones, I left and went to Baskin Robins instead. I frequent the St. George area quite a bit and the Nielsens down there is terrific and super busy. I am not sure if the same people or group own this one but walking into this one today it was super dead and now I know why. Unfortunately I am going to avoid this one.
Eh can't say much. Ordered a PB custard but the taste and flavor are the same as a regular ice cream at a grocery store.
I suggest not getting the Sunday at Nielsen's Frozen Custard. Look at picture below. My Sunday cost $6.10 my husband's concrete coat $6.40. Moral of story: Sunday's aren't worth the money!
Really good ice cream extremely disappointed they don’t have cheesecake bites
I have always loved this place. Well not this one particularly. I grew up by the one in Bountiful. This one is more of a hidden gem tho. No where near as busy as the Bountiful location, but all the great custards and food. Check them out, they certainly never disappoint!
I was very disappointed with my visit to Nielsen‘s tonight. I understand that prices have gone up, but the concretes have gotten much smaller than they used to be. I was handed two “concretes” if you can call them that, that were soupy. They were in small clear plastic cups this time. The employee handed them to me and custard was dripping out of the cups all over and another employee said “we don’t really have lids, do you want me to dump some out for you?”. I was speechless because of how absurd the question was. I had concretes melting all over me in the car. They tasted good, but for $7/piece, smaller cups, and milkshake consistency, I will hesitate to return. Sad that a good thing has gone very downhill!
