Sure it's kind of small, and the aisles aren't wide, but the variety is amazing.  Incredibly fresh food just inside the door.  The fresh sushi is to die for. VERY nice staff. Thermal bags available for $3 ( at the time of this review), if you're not staying close by.
(And Kinokuniya bookstore is right across the street!)

Small grocery store specializing in Japanese-style foods. There is a nice, inexpensive take-out section if you want to make a picnic (ask the cashier for free chopsticks). Nijiya is a chain of Japanese-style grocery stores with branches in both northern and southern California.

My go to store for authentic Japanese foods and items. Prices are great, the selection is good and the store is always well stocked and clean. Fast and easy checkout, and parking in the garage is convenient. Highly recommended.

This is my go to place. For getting Japanese food/stuff. It's reasonably priced! I do hope the store get bigger though. I can't find everything I want here....
