After reading so many awful reviews, I feel obligated to put in my two cents. If you are looking for good Japanese food in Alamance County, this is 100% the place to try. Their food is always delicious, and my partner and I frequent Niobe very often. We LOVE the wait staff, because they are always so friendly and at this point they recognize us. We have never had a bad experience with any staff, and we have visited this restaurant for the past two years as we are Graham residents. I understand that some places just don't work for people, but being open minded and giving restaurants a chance is the least anyone can do! If you have a bad experience here, don't automatically assume you should never go back, bad experiences are normal, not something to be petty about. It's as easy as talking to the managers or anyone working, I have confidence that if you are decent and understanding, your server will be too.

We've eaten here several times but after tonight we have no desire to go back. After we finished eating my father in law and I went to the counter to pay. We stood there for about 10 minutes after the guy behind the counter held up his finger to us telling us to hold on. He finally lets my father in law pay and then I stand there for another 8 minutes before he acknowledges me. Meanwhile he's ringing up all the bills the waitresses are bringing up to him while I just stand there waiting. He's also getting on and off the phone the whole time not paying any attention to the fact that there's customers who have been standing there waiting on him for a while. So he finally looks at me and says the card machine wasn't working. So I asked what he wanted to do and he said he didn't know and told us to just wait until it started working again. I said no, we have a baby that we need to get home. He gets agitated and asks me to pay with cash. I don't carry cash and didn't have anything other than my card and at the point where I said that he got angry. I asked my husband if he had cash and he didn't so the guy told me to go to an ATM and come back to pay. I asked if he was kidding and he said no then started sarcastically telling me what and where an ATM was. My father in law ended up paying for us and when he handed the guy the cash the guy holds it up to me and hatefully says "this is cash, this is how you pay". Completely ridiculous and rude as could be. It wasn't our fault or problem that his card machine wasn't working. His attitude and disrespect was uncalled for. No one bothered to tell any of the customers they couldn't accept payment by card before serving them. And the whole time this is going on a blonde waitress is leaning on the counter giving me a death glare. Not really sure who she thought she was intimidating but that's not the kind of person I'd hire to work in a restaurant. We will not be wasting our time here again. No apology was made, there was no consideration, and the guy was completely disrespectful and flat out rude.

This is a cross between a traditional Japanese steakhouse and the "fast" ones that are popping up. Half is devoted to four Teppanyaki tables and the other half are regular restaurant tables where the cooked food is brought out to you. The last time I went the chef did an excellent job and the food was cooked just right. Oftentimes though I find they overcook the meat, making it dry. Whether your meat includes broccoli or mushrooms seems to be a mystery to me - I wish they all did. Overall I enjoy going to Niobe. P.S. - the real winner are the family takeout meals for when you want to eat at home. I think a four person meal is only priced in the mid-20's and is a great deal.

Good hibachi & sushi. Staff can OCCASIONALLY be a little slow on occasion. Update 08/16/17: dropped down to 2 stars for the horrible service received. Never got drink refills, waited well over 10 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink & eat @ the same time. Our last experience our waitress was really nice but a little slow on refills & getting to us but this time was WAY worse. My girlfriend doesn't like the little noodles they use to be on the same plate (to the point that it causes her anxiety) so we asked if they could just stick them on a small separate plate or in a bowl & he said there was no way they would do that. This was by far the worst experience we've had here & we eat here several times a month.

For the town of Graham, this place is probably considered good. But it's really worth it to drive a couple miles east or west and get a real hibachi experience! Sushi was ok, not great. The dining room was pretty cramped.
