About

PK-12th Faith-Based College Preparatory.

Academic excellence with a Biblical worldview. The perfect choice for a child's entire educational career.

Story

"I wish I had brought my child here sooner!" We hear this statement often from families that come to us later in elementary, middle school or high school.
North Florida Christian has been serving families in Tallahassee and surrounding counties since 1966. A comprehensive 3K - 12th grade program means your child can benefit from the stability of a solid Christian education for their entire school career.

In fact, no other school in all of North Florida sends more graduates to the elite U.S. Military Academies. We have a 100% graduation rate as well as a 100% college acceptance rate.

However, at North Florida Christian, our most important asset is the Christian teacher in the classroom. Your child will be influenced for seven hours a day by a teacher who is called to a ministry of reaching and helping their students.

With more than 200 computers in 4 computer labs, 2 science labs and smart boards in every classroom, NFC students' learning experiences are enhanced to a level that traditional teaching alone cannot reach. Parents have 24 hour access to student's grades, attendance, discipline and current homework assignments.

North Florida Christian is fully accredited with the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, which holds membership in the National Council for Private School Accreditation.

Mission

The mission of North Florida Christian School is to prepare the leaders of tomorrow by providing a program of academic excellence through Christian education, thereby equipping them to glorify God.

We have 3 children here and have been very happy. All of the teachers and staff care about every child. The teachers and staff work very hard. You always see them on campus, at the kids games, involved in everything. We are very blessed to have so many people surrounding our children with their talent and love of this school.

I am writing this review in the hopes that someone else can benefit from it. We started NFC in VPK this year. We were all so excited especially our 4 year old who could not wait to go to school. He had stayed home with me his whole life and he was ready to start school. The first week we were there he got his color card flipped all the way to Purple and yellow. That is 3 times it is changed and on purple you get sent to another class room. The teacher said it was for spitting water in the water fountain and talking during class. I said okay, went home talked to my son told him he had to sit and listen and that we would learn. The next week same thing, always on another color other than blue, which is there good color, and having time outs every day and sent to another room. One day I went to school a little early to get Landon and peek through the window to see if he was sitting down and he was not in the class room. When they came to the door they said he was next door because he was talking. I just so happen to ask them that day how long he was in there because I thought maybe 5 minutes to redirect his focus....ummm NO! He was there for an hour ( took away recess and craft), he is only there 3 hours a day! I was livid! I talked to the admin and we set up a meeting, even though I felt like if I would not have pushed it then there would have been no meeting. We sat down had a nice chat and I told her that I felt like either A. She did not want to deal with the student or B. She forgot about him. We never really got a straight answer on what happened, but she apologized said it would never happen again and we felt okay. Fast Forward a week and he was still misbehaving at school, which my son is very kind and sweet, but he is a boy and loves to participate and loves to talk, but he was acting out in a behavior that I had never seen from him. I decided enough was enough. I was not going to let the school keep punishing him when apparently all it was doing was making him cry, stressing him out, and he was so worried about the color system he could not focus on anything else. I walked in the school to pick him up and I was going to withdraw him that day. I had only talked to the secretary when we walked in the door about it so there was no way the teacher knew what was going on. She pulled me aside and told me that he was talking again today and that I should look into a Montessori school! She had not talked to any higher administration about asking us to leave the school, nor did she propose maybe switching classes. So I told her that we were withdrawing him that day anyway and I needed to get his things, we walked out the door where my son and husband were standing and she NEVER said bye to him, or nice to meet you, or I hope your next school is better for you NOTHING! I get his things we leave, I asked the school to call me when his speech/hearing test come in I did not hear from them. I also got asked by his new teacher if he had a VPK assessment, I had no idea because it was never told to us. I called up to the school to ask about it and apparently the speech/ hearing test results had come in and no one called. I felt like the whole time we were there instead of helping my son learn to do the things he should they just kept punishing him. How do I know that my son does not have discipline issues? The new school that uses positive reinforcement instead of punishment, he has excelled! He has not been in trouble one day. He sits when he needs to and stays quiet. It is a complete change from here. So why after almost a month from being gone did I finally write a review? Today we get into the car and my son looks at me and says "Mom, Thank you, THANK YOU, for putting me in a fun school that is so nice". We are still having emotional distress issues from this school too. He cried at school one day because he got a little frustrated about his jacket not going on and he cried and hugged his teacher because he did not want to be left in another classroom. He also does not want anything to do with the color purple.

If you child is an athlete, then this is the place for you. However, if you desire a quality education, go elsewhere.

For the amount of tuition it would seem there would be more after school activities (other than sports related). I found after research this school is currently C rated and 156th ranked in Florida 2015

Great education, Great teachers that actually care about the well being of the students and take extra time before and after school. 100% College acceptance rating, more students accepted into West Point and the Naval Academy than any other school in Florida. Students in Ivy League schools such as Harvard. Students not admitted entry without a 2.5 GPA and cannot stay without maintaining that. Great sports programs. I have personally been with my son on college visits and the coaches and personnel at schools like UF, FSU, Troy, Miami and UNC I have personally heard them say how NFC is the place to be in Tallahassee and not just for sports but for the Academics and that the character of the students at the school is much higher than that of the public schools.
