Well, split opinion... Great and beautiful place, BUT! Way over priced. I love it, but not always can afford it. I think they need to allow cheaper options.

In all honesty there are much better beaches on Long Island as far as waves ,beautiful stretches of sand, concessions, nice water Etc but this is the beach closest to where I'm living right now and I have always had a good time there . Refreshing swims, friendly people,  the water has been clean and refreshing( not  beautiful bluish see-through water) and there are lots of rocks in the sand pretty far into the water...but that's how  North Shore Beaches are ( from what I've seen and been told I'm only here 5 years ). Another big plus is in the summer months there are  often carnivals on the same properties as the beach so you can make a whole great day and night at North Hemp Beach .

Firstly it is very over priced. They cut down a lot of trees taking away shade from the barcueing area. The beach is very dirty, and there are small white insects in the air. The beach water is definitely polluted. As nasty as this beach is it should be free. The bathroom is the only decent place here. Everything else is nasty. There are hardly tables around. There's not many people here. Really dirty beach, it's gone downhill over there years and it keeps getting worse.

Nice place to hang out on a nice day.  The park has numerous playgrounds, a beach with a view and baseball fields.  Picnic pavilions and two giant parking lots.  The sidewalk needs a desperate remodeling though.  The cozy beach is also hindered by the semi-industrial setting.

There’s a reason that we used to call this place birdsh*t park. Free in the winter months. Nice softball field. Aside from the aforementioned birdsh*t, actually goosesh*t. Nice sandy, calm beach.
