Dr Ben Shechter is the BEST vet ever ! I've been taking my dogs to him for the past 30 years !! Through these years I've had multiple dogs with multiple problems ranging from serious to just well checks.  He is compassionate, kind and extremely knowledgeable.  I feel lucky to have him be able to take care of my precious fur babies. 
This man is awesome and so is his staff !! I trust them with my whole heart

You won't find more thorough vets and staff at any practice. I moved over to Dr Bannow 14+ years ago after an incorrect diagnosis from another nearby practice. She has saved more than multiple pets lives with an early and accurate diagnosis, has seen me through end of life stages with pets, keeps up to date in her field, is compassionate and so much more. Dr Schecter is as wonderful a vet and together with their caring staff provide the best care you could find.

At first I really thought this was a great Vet. Then my 4 yr cat went through complications urinating. Not only were the exams costly, but they kept pushing us to go to the Bluepearl ER for catheter insert. We realize that this is probably the safest route for our cat and we do no regret going to the ER to have his bladder released, but Northshore Family Vet should of told us many other ways to alleviate pain and help him pass urine instead of costly ER visits. They DID NOT tell me to ice my cat's urethra to reduce swelling, they DID NOT try to administer anti-biotics to stop the mucus build from infection, and they DID NOT recommend prasozin medicine to alleviate bladders spasms. They wanted him  to be hospitalized in an ER for 3 days costing roughly $4000 to drain and monitor and even said that this may not help him. The past 4 days have been hell for my family. Everyone  is worried and this Vet did nothing to alleviate my family's worries on the condition of our cat. I have since moved our cat to a different hospital and the difference is night and day. The other Vet gave me good advice, good reassurance, and gave me HOPE. Which is what every pet owner needs when their pet is hurt.

I brought my 2 dogs to Northshore Family Pet after having a very negative experience at another clinic. I have been with this clinic for the last year and I could not have been happier with them! First, the staff in the front desk is extremely nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. They always give courtesy calls the next day to see how my dogs handled a procedure and if there is anything I need. The doctors are attentive, caring, and just fabulous! They don't push you to do anything uncomfortable you don't feel right for your pet. They are very thorough in their examinations, asks good questions, always answer any questions I may have, and are great with the pets. I was also very nervous about costs but they are very affordable in my opinion and are financially comparable to other places around.  Recently, I was pleasantly surprised at just how wonderful this place is for pets. One of my dogs was neutered at another hospital in Northbrook (I will not mention names). It was a horrendous experience!! First, they forced me to keep him overnight for no good reason (real reason is they wanted more money). They put him in a tiny crate for the night and he was basically neglected. It was such a traumatizing experience for him and myself! With our younger dog, we just spayed her at North Shore Family Pet. It was wonderful! Procedure went smoothly and they did a great job. What was even better is that they let our dog go back home with us at night which was so comforting for her and our family. They also did not crate her during the day and assigned a technician to watch her and give her individualized attention. They just go above and beyond for the pets and provide better service then any doctor I have ever met. Thank you so much, North Shore Family Pet!!!
