Story

At Northern Surplus we have grown to fill three specific niches within the Bemidji community.
We were originally a military surplus retailer, and we have stayed true to those roots, continuing to carry military surplus today. Cadets in the local Civil Air Patrol
program receive a discount here when they show us their CAP card.
We became a Tandy leather dealer in 1976. Our claim to fame is that we are the oldest continuing Tandy leather store in the world! We stock many leather kits, hides, carving tools, and leather stamps. We have expanded our leather department to include rawhide and materials for powwow regalia, beading, and quill working.
Our third niche is that of boots and clothing. We carry Danner, LaCrosse, and Irish Setter work boots, including styles with safety toes. We also carry Sorel, Kamik and LaCross winter boots. If you need outdoor clothing, including long underwear, bibs, jackets, hats and gloves come see us.
We have recently added American made products to our line. We have American made jeans, flannel shirts from Cadet, American made boots from Danner, American made socks and American made belts. We are looking to increase the availability of American made products within our store.
