O’Briens did a fantastic job both packing us up and especially with moving. Packing up was efficient and easy. Moving was the fastest I’ve ever seen! And they did everything perfectly. We had several large pieces of furniture that they both disassembled and reassembled perfectly. Scott, Corey and the rest of the guys were hard workers and made the day pleasant and light as well. Would definitely recommend!
This was the second time we used O’Brien‘s moving and storage based in Allentown. The first was for a whole house move, and the second was for a smaller move, bringing my daughter’s belongings to her first grown-up job and apartment in the Midwest. Our first experience with O’Briens was excellent so I knew when I needed to move my daughter I would be calling them again. They did not disappoint. Josh was great, coming over to give us our free estimate, explaining the process, and the cost. The moving crew couldn’t have been nicer. Very professional, quick and thorough. They kept in contact with me during their drive to Ohio, which I appreciated very much. My daughter’s belongings arrived in perfect condition exactly when they said they would. There is likely another move on the horizon for us, and I will definitely be calling O’Briens again. Thank you for the great service!
At the last minute I had to switch from using just moving to moving and storage. O'Brien's rates were reasonable and their staff was incredibly easy to work with. When I received everything back from storage it was all painlessly put exactly where I need it and reassembled. Everyone was professional and quick. I'll likely find myself moving again in a year or so and I will absolutely be reaching out to them when I do and would happily recommend them to anyone else who needs moving or storage services!
Efficiency, professionalism, friendliness are the words that describe our O'Briens moving experience. It the began with the first estimator visit and ended with the thank you handshake at our new home. Every promise was kept and every expectation exceeded.
We used O'Brien's recently and they were fantastic. Really nice and friendly crew and they take care of your belongings. They go out of their way to help you with the packing process with no extra charge and they are efficient, friendly, and a great crew. I would highly recommend.
I've moved cross country with Bekins and United - this was a completely different experience. I was very disappointed with O'Brien's - frankly I was quite upset with the whole ordeal. The most frustrating thing about the process is they gave me a quote for 4 men for a day of packing and two days unpacking - after the job was done, they insisted I pay over 16% more than what was quoted. In good faith, I gave them 10% and I was still being pushed for more. It felt almost like extortion. There was zero data or evidence provided to back it up - just 'pay me the money.' To make matter worse, they offered no carpet protection. I called dispatch and was told 'they don't do that' and to go to the Home Depot and buy carpet guard. I actually went and paid $150 for my own carpet protection. Adding insult to injury, they broke several items including the glass inserts in my antique coffee table. Again, offering no apologies, but certainly a demand for more money. The members of their crew were respectful and hard working. But their management and especially the person who put together the estimate, were deeply frustrating to work with - I suspect they purposely underbid the work full well knowing they'd charge me over $1,200 more. I recommend you proceed with a great deal of caution when evaluating this company.
I never gave bad reviews, but I believe I own that to society. Sparing people from trusting this company. And from spending over 7k for moving and they treat your belongs like trash. The movers were extremely unprofessional and broke a lot of my furniture, including my new bed. Even the sales person got in a argument with the mover and said to me he didn't trust him see my picture Sales person told me to open the claim and after that disappeared as I received only 250 dollars from insurance such a scam, they say they are insured but this is what you get If this company has any dignity, they would find a way to minimize my damages. It is not only the bed that was damaged, and is an electrical failure no picture can be send as evidence. I am very regretful of trusting this sales guy and company. Now, someone will reply this review with nonsense justifications. You should own your mistakes and no customer should never pay for this. Do not say this is a insurance problem- is Your problem and I am paying the price. Be descent, call and find a fair way to reimburse me for this nightmare. If you want me to remove this review feel free to reach out to me, as I tried all ways to Find a solution.
We were flooded with Moving Companies calling, texting, emailing etc…when we put our house on the market. I received a simple postcard in the mail that said to call O'Brien. An actual person politely answered the phone, a representative came to the house on time, explained patiently the whole process and a really stressful event in my life was made a little easier. The crew were great as well. No complaints here.
It got done and nothing was broken - at least not obviously, I haven't unpacked yet. But moving a two bedroom apartment less than 10 miles should not take 9 hours. That's just ridiculous. I guess they go slow because they charge based on time? It didn't help that they showed up two hours late, or that one of the 3 guys left early. Definitely don't recommend unless you like spending a lot of time and money. Edit: I had a piece of furniture with wheels on the bottom. When they put it back, they didn't put the wheels back on. They just stuck them in the drawer as I discovered. I shudder to think of what else I'm going to find as I go along. This is why they make you sign off on the move when you're too exhausted to go over everything with a fine tooth comb.
We used this company for our recent move. We just had the hardwood floors refinished in our new home and reminded the team on multiple occasions to please be careful with the floors. After they left we noticed two parallel skid marks starting in one upstairs bedroom, continuing into the hallway and then into another bedroom. One of these marks was in the shape of a tire track, clearly from a handtruck. When we noticed the damage, we thought maybe the wheel mark could be easily cleaned off or buffed out, so we reached out to the flooring company first. They took a couple of days to come out and see it. Unfortunately the solution involves buffing and putting a new coat of poly over the whole surface, and we were quoted a cost of $1300. We contacted O’Brien’s with this problem but were told it would likely not be covered because it had been several days before it was reported. My husband offered to forward them the email he sent to the flooring company the day after the move documenting the damage and they were not interested. We were told to submit a claims form, which we did and also included with it these photos clearly showing the tire track of a hand truck. We received a letter stating the claim was denied due to company policy that any damage must be reported while the workers are still on site the day of the move. My husband called to try to talk to an actual person about the denial and was told that the workers used protective flooring. I personally witnessed them use protective flooring only on the first floor, not upstairs where the damage occurred, and I personally witnessed them use the hand truck upstairs in those areas. To me, this is a clear admission of negligence from the company - the workers knew or should have known to use protective flooring where the hand truck was being used. He was told that a supervisor would contact him to discuss the issue, but never heard back. He called again a week later and was told that actually, no one would be calling him back, the claim is denied, and the supervisor decided not to return his call. We can understand the necessity of this policy to protect the company from customers who try to claim damages well after the fact that were not caused by the movers. However, clearly circumstances may arise in which damage is not uncovered before the movers leave from the job, particularly as there is pressure to release them from the property as the pay-by-the-hour continues until that point and it is not realistic to be able to examine every item and room in the house. We were very disappointed that the supervisor simply refused to call us back, as any business with integrity should at least be willing to speak with us, review the concerns on a case by case basis, and do what’s right by their customers rather than hiding behind this policy so they don’t have to stand by the quality of their service. If a mistake was made we can understand that, but the company should be willing to address it. Addendum: Thank you for your response and acknowledgement of a very frustrating situation. We followed the guidance of our flooring professionals, who indicated this is a common timeline and no issue would be expected as long as we requested the moving team to please be careful not to slide anything across the floor. As there truly is no problem with the floor elsewhere, their recommendation seems correct. I do understand the need for this policy to protect the company against false claims. In this case, there were no such deliveries of furniture or equipment, or any other service providers in the home, and certainly no wheeled equipment used upstairs. The team that was here really seemed like good people, and I think if you asked them whether the hand truck was used upstairs in the affected area without the floor protection that was effectively used on the first floor, they would tell you the truth. In any case, we certainly would appreciate any financial assistance you are able to offer toward this repair, and we look forward to hearing from you.
