Great gym but people are always leaving the women's sauna door open...making it not hot in there like a sauna should feel. This is the 4th time in the past month I've been to this location and the sauna door was left open and not heating well... pointless to use. There aren't enough gym classes outside of daytime hours. I work all day to earn money for gym classes I can't even attend? Switching gyms next month

No customer service or appreciation at all!!! I have been going to 02 for about a year and a half now. I have been to several locations in NC as well as SC. The locations in NC for the most part are all nice and clean, but almost all the locations in SC are neglected!!! I've seen many items that have been stolen and never replaced or good equipment swapped out for old crappy ones. I've watched at least 4 different employees working the front desk and most of them are never able to answer any questions or help in anyway. For almost a year now I've been paying quite a bit of money for a personal trainer. I'd never worked with a trainer before so I was a little nervous, but after a few months I got comfortable with him and saw a lot of progress. After about 9-10 month of working out with him he was let go. I of course was not very happy about it since I had been working out with him for so long and had developed a great working relationship with him. I expressed my concern to O2 and they put me with someone else. She was incredible!!! She was so knowledgeable and professional and I was very happy with what she was teaching me. We worked out on a Saturday and set up another workout for Tuesday morning. On Monday I received a call from girl who said my trainer wouldn't be able to make it in on Tuesday and to call her back if I'd like to reschedule. I was confused and disturbed since it wasn't my trainer who called. I was worried if she was ok or had maybe been in a bad accident as couldn't call herself. I sent my trainer a text the next day to make sure she was ok. She responded by saying that per her contract she couldn't legally talk to me. I knew exactly what this meant. Just two weeks before I signed another contract with her for 10 sessions that was to start in March. I'm so disgusted with the turnover at this gym! It takes time to build a relationship with a trainer and to learn each others style. They are now wanting to put me the a 3rd trainer in less than a year!!! I have reached out to one of the managers and have yet to hear anything back. All I want is for someone to take into consideration how much it affects you when their trainer keeps getting switched. There is obviously some major internal issues going on in this organization which prevents them from keeping good staff and good equipment.

The facility has a good range of equipment and has updated several of the sets in the last year. I find the staff friendly and helpful and I have found the training staff to be excellent in advancing my fitness and strength over the last year. My only negative is that the air conditioning struggles to cope in the summer months.

I've been a member here twice in 8 years. Its the worst gym in Wilmington. Plan on bringing your own toilet paper and towels, because they never have either. The ladies locker room was ALWAYS trashed at the end of the day (which is when I went). Half the sinks don't work. The showers look like a science experiment, and most of the lockers aren't able to be secured. You might want to also bring your own disinfectant and paper towels too, because without fail, there will be at least one station without any. I complained about this MULTIPLE times to the manager, Doug Conner, and each time was told it wouldn't happen again. The equipment: without fail, there's at least one treadmill, elliptical, bike, and/or circuit machine that's broken. You can tell the staff/management and scan the bar codes on the machine to alert them all you want, but it's either never going to be fixed completely (incline doesn't work, etc.) or they'll put a sign on it that says it's out of order...for MONTHS. You should probably also make sure your short-term disability insurance is paid up too; I once reported a treadmill that was jerking hard enough to cause an accident. The manager on duty said he'd take care of it. Less than half a hour later, I saw a guy on it almost eat it. The one thing they do do really well at O2 is try and sell you on personal training sessions. I actually worked with a trainer there that I liked, and purchased a block of sessions. She was great. I purchased another block a month later, went to schedule my session, and found out she had left. This was the final straw. I gave them WRITTEN EMAILED AND HAND DELIVERED notice to DOUG CONNER that I wanted to terminate my contract AND wanted my money back for my training sessions. He refused to give me a refund (which was a totally expected, though dickish move), and confirmed my last day would be April 7th. Guess what got drafted out of my account on May 7th??? ANOTHER PAYMENT. When I contacted Doug, he said he thought I wanted to use my training sessions and so he didn't cancel my membership, EVEN THOUGH I SPECIFICALLY ASKED HIM AND MY CANCELLATION WAS CONFIRMED BY HIM. I then had to wait an additional month for a refund. Long story even longer, O2 does not care about their members, their safety, the cleanliness of their facilities, and will lie to your face to keep the money rolling in. NEVER AGAIN.

O2 has two location in Wilmington and I wish the one on Oleander was closer because it is a better club. I moved and started going to the O2 off of Military Cut and have been disappointed with the following reasons: 33% of the time they have no towels available, in the men's locker room 2 of 3 showers haven't work correctly since I started going and the third one broke over Easter weekend (in fairness they fixed that shower), the cardio equipment upstairs, above the weight room and spin room, has terrible TV channel offering, if any, and some equipment has broken head phone ports. The people are friendly and the place is clean but the towel, shower, and (some) cardio equipment is disappointing.
