I'm not sure who the blame lies on, but the dead buried here should be given more respect. This cemetery is in complete disarray. It's an embarrassment and should be rectified. There is trash and debris strewn everywhere. The grass and weeds are uncontrolled. There appears to be a half dug grave and they're using headstones to lean equipment against. Inexcusable. Please feel free to message me if you have any control over this or any ideas on how to help.
My daughter and I visited recently to pay respects and plant flags at 2 Civil War veterans' graves. We gave up finding the 3rd we were looking for from the 65th NY Volunteer regiment due to the grass growing over the stones throughout the cemetery. Piles of garbage lie all around. This is a disgraceful situation which someone needs to address. I have visited scores of cemeteries looking for veterans of the 65th NY, and this is the worst cemetery I have ever seen. No respect for the dead. Appalling.
The mausoleum is even worse. I've seen youtube videos where the news went inside. Caskets on the floor, some sticking out of the crypts. I've seen one video where one casket had the top open with human bones still in it. Hopefully they can remove the bodies and move them to a better resting place.
This is the most upsetting visit i ever had at any cemetery in my life. The city absoloutely abondoned this cemetery completely the fence around the cemetery knocked down some areas missing the fencing. there is trash all over the grounds dug up graves knocked over stones. Tried to call the office and never once get a response nor do they answer the phone. They are very quick to take people money to bury families but dont take care of the grounds. People who go to the cemetery to visit their loved ones should be at peace when they leave not distraught because they can walk to their stone without going through piles of shrub and trash. My question is where are the groundsmen where does the money really go and where is the respect for the dead?l
When my mother and daughter was bury their it was clean now their is trash and lack of respect for the dead. I would not bury anything their, I wish I had the money to exhume my love ones and and bury them elsewhere
What an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!! I can't believe it's been allowed to get this bad! The abandoned mausoleum, I've never been so shocked in my life, the governor of Rhode Island should do something about this.
It is disgraceful how this cemetery is totally abandoned. My grandmother is here! Who owns this?
Really ? Rhode Island is such a shame to seriously not even try to clean up the site ... owner must be on drugs or something ... no respect for the dead Smh
It’s so sad to see a cemetery this run down. Someone should clean it up.
