Oakland Dog Squad
The Oakland Police Department utilizes two (2) canines, K9 Rex and K9 Reggie, to deploy in every day patrol duties as well as narcotics detection and suspect tracking/apprehension. K9 Rex is "Dual Purpose" certified. He is able to detect and locate narcotics as well apprehend suspects as a non lethal tool. K9 Rex and his handler Sgt. Bouchard are able to search houses and commercial properties faster and safer than a normal Patrolman. K9 Rex is five years old and has been serving the Town of Oakland since 2011.
