Good meats, wide variety of foods, including different ethnic specialties. Very nice produce area. Small enough that you can run in for something fast, but large enough to find generally what you need. Never a long wait at checkout. This is a Spartan Brand food store, not a clothing store or furniture store, and you don't need to go through countless aisles to get your shopping done.

THIS IS THE MOST HORRIBLE PLACE OF BUSINESS I HAVE EVER PATRONIZED!!!! AND WHAT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE IS THAT THEY ARE A GROCERY STORE WHICH SELLS SPOILED, EXPIRED, MOLDED, UN-FRESH FOODS!!!.THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAVE BEEN CITED BY THE BOARD OF HEALTH ON MANY OCCASIONS...NOT TO MENTION THEY MADE HEADLINES IN THE PAPER FOR MAKING PEOPLE HAVE TO BE HOSPITALIZED FOR FOOD POSION!!!, MELVINDALE RESIDENTS HAVE COMPLAINED OVER AND OVER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR THIS MARKET AND THE HEALTH SCARE IT POSES TO THE PUBLIC!, THE STAFF THIER ATTITUDE AND DEMEANOR ARE UN- PLEASANT AS WELL!!! IF I HAD TO RATE OAKWOOD FOOD CENTER THEY WOULD GET A NEGITIVE -100...SHAME ON THEM HOW THEY CAPULIZE OFF OF THE COMMUNITY AND NOT OFFER WHOLESOME FOOD AND SERVICE!!! THUMBS DOWN TO THIS UNIQUE SANITIZED PLACE AND FOR THE RECORD THEY NEED TO CLOSE THIER DOORS UNTIL THEY CAN OFFER THE CITY OF MELVINDALE AND IT'S COMMUNITY BETTER QUALITY SERVICE!!!! PERIOD!!!!

I think of this store as my meat market. No, they don't have grass-fed or organically raised. Nor do they have bison or elk. But if you buy conventionally raised meat, you need to stop here. Especially if your "money is funny" that week. Every week they have crazy good sales on different cuts. Almost always, that includes chicken drums and/or wings. Oh and pay attention when you pick up packages, because the sale meat might be right next to the same cut not on sale. Oh, and they actually have butchers who will cut stuff up for you if you ask. This won't be your only store. It's a Spartan store, so some of their other food is higher or lower than competitors. Keep your eyes open and know your prices. They post their sale paper on their website in case you don't get it in the mail. So if you live a little further, you can figure out if it's worth the trip.
