Story

The Oceanside Fire Department’s eight firehouses provide a presence in every neighborhood throughout the 42 square miles of the City of Oceanside.

The lives of over 180,000 residents and visitors are protected 24 hours per day, 365 days per year by 115 sworn personnel. An additional staff of nine provides support with the goal of efficiently and effectively serving the community.

In addition to providing emergency response services to the community, there are a number of non-emergency functions performed by the Fire Department. They include fire investigations, plan checks for all new development, fire prevention inspections, and public education, disaster preparedness, and informational programs.

Mission

The mission of the Oceanside Fire Department is the preservation of life, property and the environment. This is accomplished by providing highly-trained emergency service personnel using the most modern equipment; specialized prevention and training officers; and a dedicated administrative support staff.

The absolute worse emergency services I've ever encountered. They treated me subpar, prejudice toward me, and on the first call gave Tri City a "heads up, Just thought you should know" to the ER staff. I shared my concerns of dystonia, but they completely ignored this. The last time I called they REFUSED to transport me any where, or if they did I would be sitting in the waiting room for hours! I was asked unreal questions-- have you ever been hospitalized for mental problems, used IV drugs, etc. They know who they are. My blood pressure alone was extremely high, unable to drive, walk, and barely speak. I do have dystonia! But I was not taken seriously by these fools and, since there was a HEADS UP to the ER staff at Tri City, they didn't take me seriously. When and how and why and by what authority does a lowly EMT given the credentials to become one who has the power to diagnose a person in obvious distress? They abuse their power. Also the equipment such as City vehicles to take to the Stand for their fitness training. Several vehicles at a time...I've seen up to six. That's abuse of my city's resources. Dystonia Kat
