They had an open house that my 4 year old son and wife went to, (I was working and couldn't go) they took lots of pictures and were having a great time, my son wanted to go on one of the firetrucks he even waited as another little boy got to sit behind the wheel.  Unfortunately a rude fireman told my son that he was not allowed to go in.  My wife asked why not and the fireman, an older Hispanic, said that the other little boy got to go in because his father is a fireman in New York.  I've dealt with SOB policemen before and have called their watch commanders to complain (to no avail).  I figured I'd get the same pompous attitude from that fire station and I was right.  Megan answered the phone and I explained what happened and asked to speak to a supervisor.  She seemed annoyed and disgusted that I was calling to complain about a fireman, immediately she tried to dismiss the situation as nothing and almost hung up on me, she even told me that my son was denied access for safety reasons...   Since she wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor to complain that my son was denied access I asked to speak to a supervisor to complain that the fireman had put the other little boy in danger..  She was dumbstruck,  then she told me that she was going to speak to her supervisor.  When she came back she got my info and said someone from fire station 22 would get back to me.  After 15-20 mins Battalion Chief Perkins calls me back and I was pleasantly surprised how nice and sincere he sounded!   Perhaps he had children of his own and could understand me better because of that.  He apologized and said that he knew the guy I was talking about and didn't know what he was thinking when he denied my son access.  He offered to have my son come back and he said that he would personally meet my wife and son there and would even give them a ride in the truck.  By that time my son was disillusioned and didn't want to return.  If they were a private company and not public servants I would tell my son that it's their right to deny some people and not others but I'm a California tax payer, why should some family from another state who doesn't even pay taxes here be treated better just because coincidentally the father is in the same profession as them?  The older Hispanic fireman takes home around $200,000-$300,000 a year in total pay and benefits, it's reasonable to expect him to be professional and courteous during an open house.  It's a shame when public servants forget their place in society.  It is our duty to remind them of it whenever they are disdainful.  Fortunately OC fire authority has Perkins on their roster, he's the reason for the one star otherwise they would deserve nothing.  That is my experience with fire station 22
