Great tasting menu experience here. Very unique combination of French flavors and techniques blended with northwest ingredients and local seafood. The space is right and the counter/bar seating is very neighborhoody. If you have mobility issues be sure to check out the space or call ahead to plan to sit at one of the lower seats. The team here is super friendly and the chef has a refreshing approach to ingredients and dishes choosing to use the flavors as unaltered as possible. We had the parking menu and the chilled corn soup and foie gras ice cream were absolutely amazing. Cool cocktails and interesting wines made everything perfect. Don't miss this spot! Dietary restrictions: They were able to accommodate gluten free with their tasting menu!!
Definitely do the tasting menu; it was so creative while still showcasing all the ingredients, and the dishes kept getting even better as it progressed. The owners and the waiters were so nice and welcoming the entire time, and they explained not just the dish but also where all the ingredients were sourced from. Super quick and easy to get to from downtown and worth the stop no matter where you are at in the city.
I’ve been meaning to check out Off Alley for quite some time and it did not disappoint! Love the locally sourced ingredients, the ever changing menu and the love & compassion that goes into the dishes. Paired a wine with each dish and also have profound respect for their wine list! Carefully curated with interesting wines from all over and stories about the various winemakers. Service was awesome. The whole staff engaged, the owner was nice and everyone truly cared about the food & experience.
Nestled in a literal alley, Off Alley combines the low key Seattle vibe with outstanding interpretations of local seasonal ingredients. If Michelin Guide ever comes to Seattle, I’d say it deserves serious recognition.
Fantastic dinner. Exciting thoughtfully crafted food in an intimate setting with lots of interaction and interesting conversation between customers, servers and back of house staff.Food: 5/5
I only had the ice cream at off alley. I was drawn in with their unique flavors as they felt even more fun than what you'd see somewhere like salt & straw. Though the ice cream was good, the price/value really wasn't. $6.50 for a pathetically small scoop of ice cream, not to mention an automatic 20% service charge. We were just brought 3 scoops of ice cream, it feels rather extreme to tack on a service charge just for that. Additionally, I'm not a fan of the rustic look of the utensils. I appreciate that a lot of it is antique / thrifted, but they looked so off colored that I felt uncomfortable eating from them as a customer. It sucks cause I want to support this place, but these few things really bothered me.
I cannot get over how good our dinner was tonight. Definitely my fave meal in the city after living here for two years. Sweetbread was the highlight, everything else was amazing and I don't think you can go wrong trying anything here. The staff were also so kind and helpful, and the space is super cozy. Can't wait for our next meal!!Food: 5/5
Went for Sunday supper. It was multiple heavy meat courses, which tasted ok but it left us feeling greasy and nauseous. Final meat course was leather-tough lamb. Service was needlessly rushed. Got my drink order wrong twice, and instead of taking it back argued that what they brought was fine. They also brought out plates way too fast, I'm a fast eater and we had 3 courses on the table at once. Paid with amex, they ran the card and then came out and said they didn't take amex. Gave them another card. Turns out that they charged both cards, and are now completely unresponsive leaving me to dispute the charges manually. If they weren't a fancy restaurant I would think they are a scam. Still 20% tip though.
Interesting improvisational menu. Pnw ingredients + proper, diverse, envolving cooking skills recurrent visits. Service is not on par with the food currently, but goes fine with the vibenot very fine dining atmosphere itself.Food: 5/5
The food is absolutely great, but temper your expectations for the dining experience going in. It's very packed in there, like a Tokyo subway. This would be fine by itself, but because there are so few seats, I felt very rushed by the wait staff to order/eat quickly so they can get their next round of plates to the diners. It was very much of feeling of being "part of the kitchen", where instead of chopping vegetables, your job is to eat and leave! Also, since we bought dishes a la carte and didn't get the tasting menu, there was definitely a feeling of "you're taking up real estate from someone who would spend more". I didn't get offers to refill my drink, or get asked how my meal was or if I wanted to order more compared to the other tasting menu diners, even though our check was still $160... Despite all this, I will still go back. Their flavors are the real deal. They truly care about their flavor pairings and ingredients. The huckleberry peppercorn ice cream is some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted in my life, no hyperbole. Its just unfortunate that the venue and service get in the way of a great meal.
