Story

Authenticity is the key for us at the Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus, and we strive to bring you the best in traditional German and Austrian cuisine. Our menu includes various versions of schnitzel, roasts, sausages, potato pancakes, brats and of course, German Gemütlichkeit (German hospitality). No question, we only serve the best German beers and wines.

The atmosphere at the Schnitzelhaus is like what Anna Maria Island is for Florida: Fun, laid back, simply “gemütlich”. Come hang out and enjoy yourself on one of the wooden tables or by enjoying a beer or wine at the bar.

Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus is the “Wirtshaus” where you gather with your friends, your date or even your grandmother. All are welcome, and all are encouraged to stay a while.

We, the new owners of the Schnitzelhaus, are proud of what Brigitte and Wolfgang (the farewell owners) brought to the Island some 15 years ago. We want to keep their heritage and take the German spirit on Anna Maria Island up to new generations. They will know what German food and spirit stand for in today’s world.

Our kitchen is open till 9pm.

Pleasantly surprised. 😀The food and German beer was outstanding as well as both our waiter and the owner. I even had the pleasure to meet the chef 😁 Potato pancakes are so authentic and delicious and the pork shank was phenomenal. Will definitely be back again next summer! Trust me, you will not be disappointed.  Thank you for a great experience and supreme food Gary and Chef 👨‍🍳

The owner Gerald (Gary) is amazingly friendly. He's so involved in everything (from greeting to seeing you off) and strives to ensure you have an enjoyable dining experience. The staff were wonderful and the food is authentic and delicious! This has got to be some of the best German food I've ever eaten.

We were visiting Manatee Beach and as we headed home decided to look for a good restaurant to stop on for dinner. Based on the great reviews we decided to give this one a try and we were not disappointed!!

The friendly staff greeted us and we were seated quickly. The owner Gary came out to say hello. He was beyond friendly and helpful. Very intent on making sure we had a great dining experience and this continued until we walked to our car. All our requests were met with enthusiasm. 

Portions are large. Our kids could have definitely split a kids meal. The food itself was great and everyone enjoyed every bite. Well worth the stop!!  We will definitely return if in the area again.

The food here is delicious, and the owner is so great. Last time I was there, he personally served my family, himself. Definitely recommend!
