I've been here a few times now. My wife and I absolutely love tavern 109. There's Sunday brunches are phenomenal currently not having them do not be an open on Sundays because of the pandemic. Always have great service and great food. Chicken waffles some of the best I've ever had, mac and cheese is to die for, their sandwiches are delicious and filling. Great selection of Michigan beers on tap and fun cocktails. If you haven't checked out tavern 109 I highly suggest stopping by.
I had dinner in this restaurant with 10 of my coworkers on a Tuesday night. We sat on a small private room at the back of the restaurant that was amazing. There was a huge square table in the middle that had 3 chairs on each side. So, it’s a perfect private sitting for any party of 12 or less. Our server was amazing and did a great job with all of our drinks and orders. The food was absolutely amazing. One of our coworkers was vegetarian and there was a few option for her to pick from. All meals came with soup or salad. And the portion of the soup was perfect. Overall, an amazing experience and will be back again during my next visit.
Ate here for the first time today. Excellent food with a very interesting and unexpected menu. Our server gave us the best service. He gave us great recommendations and was very attentive and personable. 10/10 will be back.
Would have given less stars if it weren’t for the kids pizza being fresh and tasty.. as for the “filet” tips salad . Asked for medium rare, received like raw.. The taste was off and super chewy from eating one piece, I cut open the tip and this is why, I set it all to the side, and the steak came out almost fridge temp cold.. The service was awful, there were only about 2-3 tables including us and it took over an hour just for 2 salads and 3 kids pizzas.. The waitress was not very friendly and hardly checked on us. When I addressed the steak issue, not even an apology, just a “wish you would have told me in the beginning.” Well I’m sorry, I already waited an hour for this salad and she didn’t even come back during the course of eating to check on us. The onion straws were stale. I had to get up and ask for our waitress to get the bill which is when I was able to address the salad.. my sister had already ate her steak by the time I cut open mine and she had said hers was chewy too, hers was probably raw as well. They took off $9 for the cost of the steak, but not even an apology or anything. Don’t know where all these good reviews come from, and I’ve only probably left 1 other bad review in my life. Worst experience, we don’t eat out often since the pandemic and this reminded me why..
Pretty good! My s/o and I had heard from so many people to give Tavern a try and we’re glad we did. We called and made reservations ahead and our table was ready for us when we arrived, which was nice. It was pretty loud in the restaurant so it was a little hard to hear each other, however, we went on a Saturday night so a busy place is to be expected. We did wait quite a while for our server to come greet us and get our drink orders, and then waited quite a bit longer to get our drinks, one of which was forgotten. The drinks were okay. I honestly expected a little better given the reputation of the restaurant. We both loved our appetizer of the Tavern Truffle Fries! A must try! Unfortunately, the water we ordered when we very first sat down didn’t arrive until after we had already finished our appetizer which would’ve been nice to have with it. My s/o really enjoyed his Chicken & Waffles, however, the menu indicated a side of either soup, salad or coleslaw, and when I asked about that he said that he normally doesn’t ask about the side because other customers normally don’t eat it and he ends up throwing it away. I can definitely understand not wanting to waste food, but when you’re paying for a meal including a side, you should at least ask if they want it and if so, what side. They could at the very least bring it home. My food was okay, at best. I ordered a plain cheeseburger and it arrived with everything on it, which is not a huge deal but again, not expected given the reputation. The burger was also burnt. I ate a few bites and then was finished. My side of macaroni and cheese was wonderful. Overall, not a bad place to go and we will be going back. The service could’ve been better, but most of the food was delicious. I would recommend at least if this is your first time going to maybe try on a less busy night to go. I’m sure the atmosphere would be different, the kitchen wouldn’t be so rushed and careless, and the service would be better. Give it a try!
Very neat spot in downtown. Sat right away and food came quickly. Fish breading was thick and buttery which is how I like fried fish. Fries were fabulous as well crispy on outside and soft on inside. Great vibe all aroundDine in: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No

Had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got there. The food was creative and delicious and the service was superb! A highlight was the chocolate peanut butter pie. Yum!
Definitely the best spot in the area! From Interior design, food presentation and taste to great service... Everything was fabulous. Have visited this place many times and always was pleasantly surprised by Tavern 109.
Good, unique, food and a really cool atmosphere! I was very surprised by how upscale it was and by their excellent gluten free and vegetarian menus! They also make a lot of unique, in house, drink mixtures.
