Story

The Old Ursuline Convent was erected in 1745 and occupied until 1824 by Ursuline nuns as a convent, orphanage and school for girls. This historic building is now home to a brilliant museum with both permanent and changing exhibits.

Our mission is to support a vibrant spiritual life within the New Orleans Catholic community by recognizing and displaying the contributions of our multicultural and multi-ethnic past.

This is an amazing Historic Site. The history of the Ursulines in New Orleans is wonderful!

Been wanting to see this for years now, so we took some time to do the self guided tour. There is a lot of history involving the religious orders of sisters doing good works for the city. The tour includes the attached church of st.mary which is very beautiful. This is well worth the visit.
