Great school. We have marched almost every year to save the school. The teachers are great and they care about the children. If your child is having an issue as of now they respond or maybe because we are wonderful parents or just have wonderful children.

Has the principal of Olinda been mandated to close the school by any means necessary? Do those means include creating an adversarial relationship between parents and teachers? Is her job to create mistrust and miscommunication among the parents of transfer students so that they leave the school and reduce the overall population so the district can justify the closure? Why else would the school call CPS on a parent the second day after school starts without even verifying the information or checking in with the parent? After one phone call, CPS called all charges groundless. P**** B**** from CPS said to the parent,”I’m surprised that they called because of this? They should have just called you first.” When asked if “mandated reporters” are prohibited from first communicating with parents to check out any information, B**** stated, “Of course not, they can do anything they want to first.” The principal refused to apologize or agree that the school should have communicated with the parent first. Instead she told the parent that it was her choice if she decided to remove her children from the school. What choice does that parent have when an atmosphere of mistrust and hostility has been created on the second day of school? Parents give over their children to the school for 6 hours out of the day and they expect that there is a certain measure of trust and communication that will happen, and when it doesn’t, the betrayal is acute. In a district already floundering and losing money, building relationships not tearing them down should be the order of the day. CPS worker anonymity for protection.
