What an awesome find! I came with my best friend for my bday and everything was so amazing! We had the omakase dinner and got a little full at the end and couldn’t finish the delicious ice cream! Maybe the next time I’ll do 11 pcs and order some appetizers. The chefs are masters and the rice was perfectly mixed with the sauce and vinegar. Definitely will come back.
I'm a true researcher of good Japanese restaurants in New York that are priced under $50. This one falls high in the range, but for lunch, it also offers more affordable combinations. I had a series of high-quality sushi, prepared and served at the table desk in front of me, just the way I like it.Food: 5/5
Wow! What to say. I came here for my birthday and had the best experience. The staff is awesome, the vibes are great and the food is beyond phenomenal. My atoms are changed forever. Lifetime fan born! It's a place that is built from 40 years of experience and it shows. We will be back! Total gem. Thanks so much Omakase Sushi Dairo!Food: 5/5
Reviewing Lunch Omakase: Asking $95 for 11 specialty nigiris and a toro roll. Included anchovy, sardine, kohada, shimaji, saba, uni and other novelty fish. Also came with very good miso soup. Sushi Chef and service very welcoming and experience very relaxed. Also have significantly more affordable lunch options with more standard fish in the $40 range think Chirashi bowl or smaller nigiri selection
Had my post birthday treat from a good friend today and it was a great experience . The omakase was phenomenal , giving it a 5 star. Having been to some omakase in nyc, more pricey than here but the omakase was way better. The service was great too. Didn't get the chance to take good photos though, too busy with my food . lolFood: 5/5
We did the Omakase meal and it was superb. The fishes were different and tasted great with no dip. The appetizers were great and unique as well. And that brown sugar ice cream! A must get if you love bubble tea. It’s so creamy. Great way for us to end our last day at NYC.
The sushi is delicious, the decoration is good for the atmosphere there and the service was really good. The sushi was fresh, served in a good temperature and it is prepared in front of you. If you seat by the bar it's better since you can talk with the sushi chefs; the sushi is affordable too. I will definitely go again! PS: If you don't eat a lot you can spend less than $50 but if you have a good appetite like me, you can spend around $80 per person. The sake is good too and the wasabi is not very strong, which is nice
We had a great experience on a Thursday night. The place was pretty easy to book and we called the restaurant to ask to accommodate for 3 people and they easily accepted. We tried the tasting menu $150 and we were we very like all but the eggs sea which we found too hot and not very tasty. We found a the menu was appropriate size and diversity. Very good quality. The chief was very patient and super friendly. We ended up staying almost until close and we didn’t feel any pressure from the restaurant to leave even if we were the last clients. The place looks also quite nice, nothing fancy but clean and cosy. May be little bit expensive but it’s New York so nothing is too choking.
Very casual but high end sushi experience. I had the omakase and thoroughly enjoyed every course. It’s a ton of food, all with unique tastes that are really quite interesting. The staff is very kind, and will explain each dish if you ask.
We had the smaller portion Omakase which came with 12 pieces and a miso soup. The quality was really good. I enjoyed every piece except the anchovy, which I don't like or dislike. Also, there were no shrimp or fish roe pieces. I would've gladly traded the mackerel and the anchovy for them. Using the leaf as a plate was an interesting touch, however, I prefer a real plate but only because the leaf made it harder for me to take pictures of the pieces. The space is quite intimate and there are tables behind the bar. The place got quite loud when the table behind us became occupied. Overall it was a nice experience. I'd recommend it.
