Amazing place for curious people who want to know how and what of everything. Many different shows and activities related to various things. There is a submarine tour which guides you about the structure and functionality of submarine. The planetarium show is superb and gives great knowledge about galaxy, stars, planets and constellations. We also got a small kit for kids to teach more about the galaxy. There are a few cafes inside where you can have a bite or some coffee. There is also a gift shop inside from where you can but souvenirs as a memory of the museum.

Always an awesome experience. They do great with all of their exhibits. My 3 year old loves the kid play area. The kid area is educational as well as fun. I noticed the OMSI employees using lysol on most of the surfaces on several occasions which during flu season, makes me feel more at ease. Can't wait to take my little one back for the next exhibit which is Robots.

OMSI is a great museum. Lots of hands on and interactive exhibits. There is even a science playground for children under 6. OMSI puts on so many events that it would be hard to choose one to recommend. The eatery, Theory, has really well prepared fresh foods and hand tossed pizza. The prices are reasonable. The picture attached is from a recent event partially hosted by OMSI, the Portland Winter Lights Festival.

Review for the laser show - The updated planetarium is pretty amazing. New carpet, new seat covers. The lasers have been greatly updated although a lot of the songs are still basically just Windows screen savers. The background video has been changed so it causes 75% less nausea. Still no hologram projection though so even with the updates it's still a bit of a dated performance. The ear plugs they hand out must be a joke because the audio was incredibly quiet and there was zero bass. I could hear people giggling all the way across the room. I listened to the same album (The Wall) in my car on the way home and my stock speakers had a lot more bass than there was in the laser show. Kind of disappointing :(

Highly recommend a membership as it makes it affordable for quick 1 hour visits when you need to run off energy of the minis. Their upstairs young kid area: infant to 6 years is great, contained, and monitored by employee so your kiddo can't just walk out. Has sand area, enclosed infant area, water area, nature area, an amazing art area, and so much more. Has 2 family restrooms with tiny and reg size toilets, and a quiet feeding room for those still nursing that want privacy. And this is just the young kid area, there's still the entire rest of the place. Recommend the food in their in house restaurant/cafe- it's good and not overly priced. Only tip- avoid the store. It's overpriced and will suck you dry. You can find most of the exact same things on Amazon for a third of the price.
