There are many things to hate about this company. Coming in on the top of the hate list is the fact that they took our storage boxes from our apartment without any written or verbal notice, and with no call ahead of time. We simply walked out and the boxes were gone! Granted, when the boxes were booked, they were booked for next day pick-up (between 10am and 6pm) and the truck driver was supposed to discuss pick-up with us upon delivery. Tom, the manager of the Portland branch, was not only not very helpful in finding us a solution to THEIR problem, but was condescending to boot. In addition, when the call would get heated, due to their less than helpful ideas about how to semi-fix THEIR mistake, he would simply hang up on us! They never re-delivered the boxes back to our location because the truck driver who silently stole our boxes back for storage decided he would go home before 2 PM and would not be asked to come back into work to correct his mistake. We ended up having to drive four trips of stuff in the back of a pick-up 15 miles each way to fill our last box. They did give us the third (last) box for free because THEIR mistake prevented us from accessing our original storage units. But, since we had to drive our stuff to the box ourselves, it defeats the whole purpose of a portable storage unit that the company drops off and picks back up WHEN YOU ARE DONE! If we wanted to drive our stuff to a storage unit we could have rented a U-Haul and rented a much closer storage unit that we could have accessed at our convenience. All in all this was the worst moving experience ever and I would never ever recommend working with Big Box Storage or their incompetent manager Tom again!
