We love the amazing San Luis Valley views from the campground. We love the hot springs soaking. If you have an RV there are RV spots. There are about 7 spots with Electricity. It's fun to hike to the bat cave and watch the thousands of bat fly out at sunset. There is a host who does star-gazing with a large telescope. He knows his stuff. There is a big common area with stoves, sink, refrigerator, tables, a big common fire place under a huge open air shelter. Valley View staff usually has a fire and does somemores there. There is a big bathhouse with sinks outside for washing dishes. There is a large sauna with a built-in cold dip built into the ground. It's very relaxing. There are deer that come right up to your campsite. There are also many walk-in campsites. There are about 10+ soak pools with temps from 108 to 79. There is a large naturally heated swimming pool and sun deck area. The big pool was about 88 when we were there last. It's a great place to spend the day swimming and sun bathing. Note that this place is clothing optional so be prepared for that. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a very relaxing and friendly place to go. They have massage folks available for appointments. There is a hostel type multi-guest building and you can also rent private rooms to stay overnight. It's a membership place but you can go for the day if they are not at capacity. (You don't have to be a member, but it helps to be one.) The place fills to capacity on most weekends, so plan ahead - members receive priority. Orient Land Trust also owns a large ranch nearby. You can take a tour of it. The Valley View hot spring area has it's own hydro-power plant that provides electricity to the entire site. The place always is clean and you can tell the employees and hosts care about their work and want the place to be nice for guests/members. There is a dirt road to get there that is 7 miles long. It's not too bad. Sometimes it's a little bumpy and dusty but easily doable in any type of vehicle.

CALL AND MAKE RESERVATIONS EVEN IF YOU ARE GOING ONLY FOR THE DAY The first time we had a good time, however they have a weird pricing scheme (if you pay for staying the night, the hot springs are not included and you have to pay extra). But the second time we drove for hours to spend the day there and they told us that their daily cuota was covered and we couldn't get in. We were so disappointed, we didn't know that had a daily cuota.

This is one of the holiest, most beautiful places I have ever been. The clothing optional culture felt freeing and not overly sexualized. The views of the sunset are unreal, and the valley below is stunning. The pools are natural, so you will have algae and other plants on you occasionally. The people are friendly and passionate about Valley View, and have been going there for decades. I have made close friends here and recommend that everyone become a member of the land trust! Make sure to book early!
