Gone for three years in a row, stayed at West and East rustic. Both accommodating. However if your a younger person looking to party I would recommend the West. The east side tends to settle down early. Great sites next to the ausable dam. Bathrooms could be nicer, were planning on coming back this year

Great campsites, some bugs but friendly community. My family comes here about 5 times per year it's so good!

The staff was friendly. My site was nice i was very impressed by how clean the bathrooms were and how comfortable i felt using the showers. I thought things at the campground would cost more for convenience but i was satisfied w the prices . $5 for a bundle of wood,$ 2 for a bag of ice, and the showers .. each coin is 25 cents and they are good for 3 min a piece .. not bad in my opinion. The bathrooms r bring your own soap and towel and things to wash your hands but this didn't bother me. The fire pits were a bit small.. not a huge deal. The only issue i had was that they have a noise ordinance but as far as i could find no one to enforce it. I couldnt find a number to call nothing. At 1 am the jerks across from us had the music in the truck up as loud as it would go they were all drunk climbing trees screaming out cus words as loud as they could climbing trees to hang lights.. being very rude . They woke my kids up multiple times. U know i expect noise . Its camping have a good time but the other ppl at the campground were being very respectful and just talking amoungst themselves and every now and then ude hear a laygh or something. No big deal. Anyway i looked for a number and could find nothing . So i had to call the cops to get the ordinance enforced. They didnt mind but not the cops job i dont feel like. That was my only issue w the oscoda county campground otherwise i think it was a very nice place to go.

I grew up in this area and this is one of two campground close enough to town to not need to worry about bringing food from hours away. You are walking distance to the "back waters" the damned section of the AuSable River, the lower section of the AuSable where the water runs, another plus is you are a VERY short drive or even a walk to stores and banks. Now all that being said it is still a camp ground so, yup you'll need to bring your house. Also bug spray the nats and mosquitoes in Mio are thick during the summer. Oh, Very family friendly are. With hiking trails. Literally grew up in this place running and swimming every day.

I have been coming here for 20 years now, the east rustic camps are amazing, the view and location on the Mio pond are even better. The upkeep of the grounds could be better, but it's no fault of the people that run it who are fantastic, it is due to budget issues from the county
