OstrichLand USA is a wonder-filled place for everyone. We have a gift shop with truly unique gifts, all ostrich and emu related. Stop by and feed them!

Story

The highlight of a visit to OstrichLand is feeding the ostriches and emus. These big birds are a rare and unique sight in this part of the world and are sure to make you smile. We provide a way for you to be up close and personal with these big birds and safe at the same time. The backdrop of the landscape on which they roam is quite lovely and seeing them walking about on the plain that resembles their native desert is like being in another place and time.

OstrichLand is fun for the whole family. We welcome groups and request that you call ahead to reserve the time if your group is large. We can provide a “guided tour” or you are welcome to be on your own.

We are open year round and hours can vary due to time of year and the daylight available. Please check in with us first if you are planning a visit.

This is certainly a fun spot and worth a few bucks to see these magnificent birds up close. Ostriches and emus are as close as we can get to looking at actual dinosaurs, and they are a little terrifying, in a good way. Staff is friendly and engaging. I just feel like there's something missing. I feel like they need an upgrade or something to excite previous visitors. Llamas, maybe?

I went here in April 2016 and forgot to leave a review on Google Maps! I still have fond memories of this place. Here is the review I wrote for another site from back then: We had so much fun here! The price to get in is small but the payoff is big. It was so much fun feeding the ostriches and emus. They had a couple of pens so if the first ostriches and emus are too aggressive for you just keep walking and you'll find calmer ones in their less crowded pens. They also had adorable baby emus and even a little pen in the bed of a truck with chicks inside! They were so tiny! The gift shop is fun and we spent some cash there. They have shirts, postcards, magnets, toys, emu jerky etc. We even got an ostrich egg to cook when we got back to our hotel. There was also an outside stand with DELICIOUS strawberries for sale as well as honey, ostrich feathers (if you don't want to buy them inside when it's crowded), and lavender. The guy running the outside stand was super nice so shout out to him for being awesome.

Pretty cool to see these huge birds up close and feed them. Hold on to your feeding bowls tightly. The ostriches will try to pull the bowl from your hand. And they're surprisingly strong. Can be a little intimidating for the really young kids. The Emu on the other hand are surprisingly docile. Awesome experience.

If you have kids this place is a must stop between Buellton and Santa Ynez. You can pay extra and go to see the birds in the back of the store. It is well worth it. For a little extra if you can feed them too. We were lucky enough to be there on a day when there was an expert in the field and he allowed our 5 year old to stand on top of an ostrich egg to demonstrate how much weight they can take on. We learned a lot about ostriches and got to see many of them as well as emus running in their fields.

Such a fun place! Easy to miss from hwy 246 (lack of signage except right at the entrance) so do plug this in to your GPS. Low cost and fun activity for all ages. The ostriches eat very fast, the emus are more civilized. You may find yourself buying multiple cups of ostrich feed for the great entertain value!
