It's clear this business is on its last legs due to careless management. 

We gave this place 2 tries. The first time, we got there 5 minutes before closing and were rudely informed that they were closed. 

The 2nd required several minutes to get the employee to understand that I just wanted hot tea. Then she gave me an empty cup and a confused look. Finally she asked if I wanted hot water, then went to a dish sink and filled the cup with luke warm water. 

Hopefully it turns around by our next visit

Ice cream is good with generous portions.  Shop is a bit of a mess with dusty displays and the candy counter looks pretty scary as it is messy and has a poor presentation.  Go for the ice cream but I'd avoid the candy.

One of my favorite stops! A must have every time! The ice cream we talked about the entire drive from Montrose to Ouray. This was when i was a child.  A couple decades later i feel like i walked into what a north korean would have been disappointed in.  

I couldn't tell if the chocolates fallen in the display had been pushed aside accidentally that morning or had found their resting place months or years ago and were not loved enough to be put back.  All the while a struggling girl tried to get everyone ice cream while the assumed manager sat staring judgementally at everyone walking in while never moving a muscle to assist a line of 6 people.  How do you operate?  Do you just use the inexhaustible tourists who don't know any better? Mad max would feel lonely. 

Oh ya, not to mention my mom went to use the restroom and proceeded to get unmarked wet paint all over her hands, shirt,  and purse.  Had she been a more agressive person, i could see something going down, but instead went back to the bathroom to try to wash it off.  When she came out there wasnt an apology or friendly help,  just a blank vapid stare from the manager on perpetual break, and a wet towel from the overworked lady.

We were in Ouray for three days and wound up in here for ice cream twice. A kid cone is all you need as they are VERY GENEROUS with their scoops. Kid's waffle cone is the best bang for your buck.  Wife and kids always got a scoop of two different flavors. They were all delicious!

Terrible tasting candy! Save your money and check out a different candy shop! We spent $21 on candy that went in the trash! Not even my girls liked their candy! Never again!
