As a suburb of the Kansas City metropolitan area, Overland Park, Kansas is the second most populous city in Kansas (2015 estimate 187,730). The city is 75.6 sq miles, spanning nearly the entire distance between the northern and southern borders of Johnson County.

The Police Department has 302 full-time employees and 18.5 full-time equivalent employees. Of the 302 employees, 250 are commissioned personnel.

There are four major divisions of the Police Department: Patrol, Patrol Support, Support Services and Investigations.

Reading over some of these reviews, as i was getting ready to post my own, caused me to feel the need to call a few out. While yes, it may take a little longer than YOU originally planned for the timeline of filing a report, these men and women who have dedicated their careers to trying to help their communities can not be in a million places at once. So yes, while you may have gotten impatient that an officer was too busy working an accident or assisting another community member, it is important to remember that there is a bigger picture than just you and your report. As far as other negative posts i saw on here, all those users appeared to be the critics that only post negative things about businesses. Which only goes to show its a major attitude adjustment behind the individual posting. Overland Park Police Department is a valued department that i have personally seen go out of their way to improve peoples lives and make a difference. Day and in and day out, i have seen the bullcrap they have to put up with and still stick to it. But more importantly the amazing service they contribute to the city and its residents. I will always appreciate this police department. Back the Blue.

Walked into OP Police Dept just before 5pm to file a report on a hit and run, no one was here so I used the phone to call the desk and she said someone would be here shortly... that was 45 minutes ago.. and I am still waiting. So much for protect and serve. Thanks
