To be fair the place was packed and busy with the Saturday morning crowd. However we were seated quickly and attended to immediately, the place is quaint and there is outdoor dining. Menu is great with plenty of options and food was delivered quickly. Great little find and will definitely go back probably during the week to really enjoy it.
Ovo Frito is my go-to for breakfast and lunch in Evanston. The food is delicious; I've never had a dish here that I didn't love. It's also always made both fast and fresh. The service is unparalleled- you always feel like you're part of the family! I often get lunch here with friends and I've had several business meetings here that have been highly successful. Ovo Frito is a hidden gem that I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Parking: There is easily accessible free street parking on both sides.
I tried this place for breakfast and it was absolutely amazing! The staff was very kind and laid back. The service and restaurant was very clean!! I’m glad I had a chance to stop in and get some good food!!Food: 5/5
Every time my wife and I go to a new for us restauran. I will be expecting that the food is truly Mexican. Unfortunately this place is not it. Yes, for Americans the food is good or great. Not for me. I look for food that is authentic. The Chilaquiles are made with egg that is smothered into the chips and they are crunchy not the way they make it, also, never white riceI in the same plate. am not sure that we will be back.
Its a very cute place with a bunch of egg themed art on the bright yellow walls and the service is good but when it comes to the actual food I was disappointed. I got the egg and chorizo taco and presentation looked great but the flavor just wasn’t there. It wasn’t seasoned much at all, very bland which I was not expecting. I tried a bite of my friend’s food and it was also underwhelming, a bit better than mine but still not something I’d want to take another bite of. The only thing I enjoyed was the hibiscus iced tea which I kept getting refills and basically filled up on bc I didn’t care much for the food so I it’s the only thing I can recommend.
I was visiting from WPB Florida and came in Saturday August 3rd right before attending a memorial service. I had this amazing dish. I opted for eggs OE instead of scrambled. OMG. Spicy but also packed with complex flavors! And they had Sourdough toast!,,. They serve 1 slice which is good for the waistline. Lol Derek's Favorites Eggs $16.00 Two eggs over chorizo, potato hash, jalapenos, red pepper, and topped with chihuahua cheese, chipotle ketchup, sour cream, and guacamole. Served with desiree potato hash and your choice of toast. The staff was so welcoming and warm and All provided excellent service. The next day I called to see if I could get an ice coffee to go and they said "Sure". When I arrived they not only had my coffee waiting but they treated me on the house! It was a difficult weekend but they provided some love and nourishment during my visit.
There was free street parking. Service was superb! Staff is bilingual. Very little wait to receive the food and everything was delicious.Food: 5/5
My family and I stopped here for a quick breakfast, and we cannot wait to come back! The Zarzamora French Toast was some of the best I ever had, and the Huevos Divorciados was perfection! The wait staff was so attentive, and our mugs never went empty :
Super quick service, delicious food! Awesome experience all around!Food: 5/5
YUMMMMMM. That pretty much sums up our meal here. Since it was about 10:00 on a weekday, we were able to walk right in and be seated, but I can imagine this place is wildly popular on weekends and holidays. My much-needed coffee was excellent. We split the El Guero Omelette and the Strawberry French Toast, and both were delicious! I also loved the sunny vibe and the light filled interior, though the outdoor seating would be lovely on a pretty day. I’ll definitely be back!
