SO disappointed. I call this review "the paint job that never happened because apparently they don't want your business." My paint job was an easy sell, but apparently Painting Pros did not care about having my business, and his business communication/customer service was hardly "pro." Here's my experience: I asked a few friends for recommendations of professional painters in the West Des Moines area because my wife and me needed our hallway, stairwell and living room walls painted before our newborn baby arrived. The name "Painting Pros" came up, so I gave Terry Thompson with Painting Pros a phone call. He came by my home and gave me an estimate -- nice enough guy. I felt the estimate was decent, so I agreed and asked when he could send his painters and mentioned the sooner the better since we wanted the paint fumes gone by the time our new baby arrived. He told me he understood, felt that was totally doable given our circumstances, and that he might be able to get one of his guys available to come the next day (Saturday) but that he would have to call him to check first. "OK, great," I said, hopeful that this was my easiest business decision yet. Terry called a few hours later to tell me he his painter could not make it out to my house to complete the paint job "tomorrow" after all, but he would call me "first of next week" to get me on the schedule. I told him that was fine, I understood, and eagerly awaited a call from him on Monday or even Tuesday. Those days came and went. Then rolled around Wednesday... Thursday... Friday (clearly I was giving him the benefit of the doubt by waiting for him to call me, as he promised). It was that Friday -- exactly one week after our initial consultation/estimate -- that I decided to call HIM (if you run a business, and you want to stay in business, you keep your word and follow through, right?). He did not answer his phone, so I left a voice mail expressing my great disappointment that I had not heard from him as he had promised. But I also wanted to give him another chance because I really needed my house interior painted by a professional, so I also said in my voice mail that I was still interested in having at least my hallway and stairwell painted. I asked him to please return my call as soon as possible. Five hours later he called me, but I was not near my phone, so I noticed he left a voice mail. Although still miffed that he hadn't called me "the first of the week" and miffed I had to be the one to call him -- a week later -- I was glad to see I had a voice mail, eager to hear his apology and looked forward to hearing what he was going to do for me, his discouraged customer. With a non-apologetic, not-so-friendly tone, his voice mail said, "Daniel, this is Terry with Painting Pros. Please give me a call." This is exactly how it went -- I still have his voice mail on my phone to prove it. I was once again disappointed he did not make a point to first express how sorry he was that he had not gotten back to me in a timely manner as he promised he would. Wouldn't that be what most businesses would do? Realize, "Oh man, we really blew it" and make it a point to apologize right away and then tell me how he was going to make it right? Nope. Not Painting Pros. Anyway, I decided to call him back (I'm a forgiving guy)... what do I get? No answer. And his voice mail messaging system says, "We're sorry, this voice mail box is full. Goodbye." I cannot even leave him another voice mail! I thought surely he'll see he has a missed call from me and will call me right back soon as he notices... right? Wrong. I have a recognizable phone number; my area code is not 515. There's no way he did not see I called him back. But that was more than one month ago, and he still has not called me. Meantime, I painted it all myself. No way would I pay Painting Pros to go through that experience again. This is a sad, sorry way of doing business, Painting Pros. But at least I know now you're not "sorry" and didn't want my business in the first place. And now everyone in the Des Moines area does, too.
