Decent on-campus housing, specifically for freshmen and sophomores. Palmetto House is the older of the freshman dormitories for USC Upstate students.

The information below is also true for Magnolia house. All rooms are furnished with beds and desks, with a single couch, microwave, and mini fridge in the common area. Each suite is composed of a common area, a bathroom area with 2 sinks and individual shower and toilet rooms, and either 2 double bedrooms or 4 single bedrooms. Floors are gender exclusive. Security guards only allow residents in, and only with their student ID. Visitors must sign in, and must be accompanied by a resident.

Bathroom equipment all works fine, but hot water takes a while to reach the sinks and showers depending on the time of day. Heating works great, and the rooms stay pretty toasty. AC works not so great, and the rooms stay pretty toasty. Having equipment such as computers and refrigerators that produce more heat will obviously drive up the temperature of your room. Inevitably, someone will pull the fire alarm or trigger it via smoking or cooking multiple times during a semester. Residents are expected to leave their dwellings and gather across the street.

The only difference between "P House" and "Mag House" is that Palmetto House is larger, and features a bend separating halls into wings. Palmetto House also allows both freshman and sophomore residents.
