When the restaurant first opened, it was very nice- prices were a bit more than most all other restaurants in the area, but the uniqueness was the appeal. Also, the sanitation rating was good, as was the food. It was worth the extra money to experience the atmosphere. However, now the sanitation rating has dropped and just this weekend when we were there, flies were swooping around our table. And the noise level is quite high- still. You would expect at a restaurant of this supposedly quality, the waitresses would be dressed conservatively/neatly- but we saw belly buttons and tattoos. These things, plus the price increases on what was already overpriced, will make us think twice about returning. It’s unique and right on the Parkway, but just not worth the effort and extra expense now.

The food was outstanding. The brisket is out of this world. Our waitress, Darius, was simply wonderful. She was witty, funny, and altogether excellent. The owner, Mark, was extremely nice. The only negative was a horribly unhappy patron who put a damper on the fun we were enjoying.

Chopped steak topped with bacon and cheese. Sides were fresh fruit and cheese grits. All local ingredients. Close seating, great staff. Food prepared to order and in timely manner. Hard to believe it could be, but truly too much cheese on grits. Would recommend at least one visit here.

We escaped from Irma, and chose to go back to our prior home, Ashe County. Heard that PVI had been remodeled. It was the perfect choice! The hospitality was that of the wonderful people of the mountains. Very nicely remodeled, clean, good internet, smart TV. Quiet and peaceful. 100 yards to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The topper is the restaurant.Managed by a Culinary graduate, with delicious receipts. Wife loved the prime rib sandwich. Me the grits fan loved their popular cheese grits.
