The Paso del Norte Health Foundation in El Paso, Texas is one of the largest private foundations on the U.S./Mexico border.
The Foundation works effectively across these boundaries in partnership and collaboration with other organizations to plan and implement programs that address disease prevention and health education.
The main focus of the Foundation is to help those within the region who are most in need. To envision the region where all people, regardless of socio-economic status have the knowledge, resources, and environment they need to live healthy lives. To achieve this, the Foundation has developed a creative, pro-active approach to improving the long-term health of the region. Below is the five health position or focus area of funding:
Goal One: Physical Activity and Balanced Nutrition
Goal Two: Tobacco, Alcohol, and Illicit Drug Use
Goal Three: Access to Health Care and Mental Services
Goal Four: Healthy Families and Social Environments
Goal Five: Leadership Commitments
Unsolicited grant proposals are not accepted by the Foundation. However, when launching a new Request For Proposals (RFP), the Foundation offers grant workshops for nonprofit organizations to better understand the purpose of the initiative or program and how to respond to the RFP. Program officers are available to discuss ideas for future programs and welcome suggestions from regional organizations.
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation promotes health and prevents disease in the region through leadership in health education, research, and advocacy.
