Story

Peninsula Park is a public park in the Piedmont neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The 16.27acre park is located in the North Portland neighborhood and contains a outdoor swimming pool, community center, baseball fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, covered picnic areas, a historic gazebo and other amenities. In 2007, area residents started to propose a piece of public art be added to the park honoring Rosa Parks, as the park lies along Rosa Parks Way.Rose gardenPeninsula Park became the city's first public rose garden in 1909 when it was purchased for $60,000 with funds raised in a 1908 bond measure. Designed by Emanuel L. Mische, the two-acre garden contains 5,700 roses featuring 75 varieties. The official rose of Portland, named Mme. Caroline Testout, was cultivated at Peninsula Park. In 1913, the park was chosen as the location for an annual rose show, where it remained until Washington Park was selected as the location of the International Rose Test Garden in 1917.

This park is beautiful and full of all kinds of things. Really I think there is something here to please just about anybody. Although this park is nice all year long, the best time to visit is during the summer, specifically when the roses are in bloom. I feel like June is when the booming begins. I'm fortunate to live within a mile of this park so I get to enjoy it regularly. This is a great place to take photos, play sports, take the kids/dogs, or even relax with a blanket and a good book. Some people even select this place for their wedding. This is a must visit park in Portland!

Come here to smell the roses and feel great about life! The perfect place to bring your love bug and children to get some exercise and fresh air! Many trails and playgrounds for fun. Many people visit to throw the ball around and have a picnic! It's a gorgeous oasis for Portland with stylish historical brickwork and powerfully elegant water fountain!

This park is absolutely beautiful! The rose garden is lovingly care for by volunteers. The fountain in the middle of the garden runs during the warmer months. On any given day you may come across people taking wedding or quinceanera photos, running, celebrating a birthday, walking their dogs, playing soccer or sitting and enjoying the setting. You can reserve the large gazebo that has a grill. The community center has a pool that is open during warmer months but the community center has activities year round. There is a large playground area and a splash pad for when it's hot out. This park is thoroughly enjoyed by the community around it!

Great older park with distinct sections for use. Garden is beautiful in the summer. There is a few gazebos and a water park as well as a shaded large playground. Restaurants are not too far away if you wanted to get something to go for a picnic.

Beautiful park with sunken rose gardens that are very well maintained. There is a beautiful fountain in the middle of the rose garden. There are children's toys and swings available. There are baseball diamond's, benches and tables to have a picnic at.
