We spent an enchanting vacation in August 2016 at the Pentagoet Inn. Its location is perfect with easy access to the water, the little town, the Academy. . . simply charming. Room was lovely, comfortable, pretty and only ingredient missing was AC, and that only rarely, as the location and the fans made it extremely comfortable. The Barron's Bar is charming, as is its host, the innkeeper. The Dining Room provided delicious breakfasts and dinners were wonderful. Must remember to make dinner reservation as it is the best dining in town. There was common space to enjoy and our hosts provided information so that we traveled around the island and truly enjoyed all there was on the nearby islands. A hideaway to return to.

Gorgeous old Victorian hotel in peaceful Castine. The food was excellent and the bar is phenomenal. Great hosts, highly recommended.

Delightful quiet inn, excellent managers, nice little sociable bar, super breakfasts - different everyday. Don't expect any night life in town after 8:00 PM.

Hands down the best Inn we have ever stayed in. The Barron's Bar is unreal and full of amazing history. Jack is such a top bloke. We chatted to him for ages and couldn't help but like him immediately. I'm not sure I will meet someone else who has lived a life like his. The food is first class, the rooms are spot on and the restaurant is without fault. Do yourself a favour and spend a few nights at the Pentagoet Inn. Chill out, explore the area, borrow a bicycle and forget about everything. You won't regret it. Jack and Julie, if you happen to read this, thank you so much for an awesome stay. If you end up touring Oz and NZ, let us know and we'll hook you up.

The Pentagoet is the best Inn in Castine, if you are visiting for Maine Maritime Academy, you will wake up well rested and can go get a delicious breakfast downstairs. Far surpasses the Castine Inn with beds amd service. I have stay multiple times and am always satisfied.
