Story

The Performing Arts Center is more of a philosophy than it is a building. The primary goal of the Middle Township Board of Education and the citizens who have supported the project from the onset, is the development of a first class performing arts program that will benefit the educational community and the adult community. The physical facility will enable that to occur. The school district's already outstanding performing groups will now have priority access to a facility that will allow them to properly showcase their talents and to further develop those talents both quantitatively and qualitatively. The facility will provide the means and the motivation for the further development of curriculum in areas of performance and production. At the same time, the schools will now have the opportunity to bring to the students the artistic talents of notable amateur and professional performing groups, lecturers and a wide variety of educational presentations. Concurrently, it is the intent that all of the advantages to the educational community stated above will accrue to the community as well. The facility will provide the means for local amateur and professional groups to perform in an atmosphere that will enhance their presentations and properly showcase them in their home community. It will provide the community of Middle Township and the greater community of Cape May County with the opportunity to bring high calibre entertainment to the local area for the benefit of the general citizenry. Serious efforts will be made to obtain entertainment that will meet the preferences of all age levels and the tastes of as many people as possible. It is the genuine desire of all who are a part of this project that it will fill a void that has long existed in the community. Furthermore, it is hoped that within the near future a majority of citizens will be favorably familiar with and a supporter of the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township.
