I have long thought that Perkins is just a boring blast from the 80s past.  I would never think of stopping at a Perkins except when on a work trip I needed to eat late into the evening and could not find a local place of interest, so I stopped at Perkins.  I was pleasantly surprised!  The menu had interesting items besides just meat and potatoes and there were spices besides salt and pepper.  I have since stopped by a second time while in town and was again impressed.  I almost never give a chain 5 stars because I really prefer local character and cuisine.  Though I will give them the highest rating for a chain.  I don't know that all Perkins are this good, so the scope of this review is really just the Watertown SD branch.  Oh, and the service was fine.

Love coming here with my daughter and family. The food is excellent, service is phenomenal, and the prices are affordable. I've had one bad experience, but overall I've had excellent outcome.

Excellent food and wonderful service. And the waitresses always let me have a vegetable instead of potatoes because I eat low carb.
