Perot Museum of Nature and Science

About

A scientific wonderland in downtown Dallas.

Story

The new, world-class, adrenaline-rushing, mind-blowing, cooler-than-cool Perot Museum of Nature and Science is now open... right here in Dallas.

Our roots date back to 1936, with the opening of the Dallas Museum of Natural History in historic Fair Park, which would later merge with the Science Place and the Dallas Children’s Museum in 2006 to create the Museum of Nature & Science. The Museum of Nature & Science in Fair Park which houses our historical wildlife dioramas and active paleontology lab will remain a part of the Perot Museum, giving visitors the chance to see not only our new Museum in Victory Park but also our historic Museum in Fair Park.

Awesome place. Great for all ages. Prices are a little higher than I would like but becoming a member is a good way to increase value. Children's museum is for toddlers and maybe up to 3 or 4 but everything else is suitable for all ages. It's kept up very well and staff is friendly and helpful.

Focus is more towards kids to get them interested in the sciences, but with all the activities a kid maybe be properly worn out and fall asleep on the drive home. Each floor has different things to experience. I enjoyed the semiprecious stones. Get there in plenty of time to watch one of the 3d films. Hope you have fun.

Overall this is a really fun and engaging museum for kids and adults. The second floor in particular has amazing activities. You could easily spend a day here. My only issue is that the energy exhibits on the 3rd floor are like an advertisement for the oil & gas industry - it would be nice to see that section updated with a more objective, balanced view of energy production and the costs of natural resource extraction.

Wonderful experience for myself and the children. The 3D movie we watched was very interesting. It got the kids full attention an even had them wanting to become Engineers when they get older. Very nice museum for children as well as adults. I would defiantly return.

I would rate this -5 stars if I could. There are not enough elevators for this place. Only one serves “4M” also the elevators take forever to come. I have waited over 10 minutes for one elevator to come. This is never mentioned in those Dallas guide videos. Also this is really just a overpriced tourist trap. Of you are handicapped the day will be miserable since the elevators take a long time to come. Also there are some parts which are a serious safety hazard. On 4M the hand rail is like 4 inches away from the floor which is slanted towards the hole. I think they decided that design is better then safety which is pathetic.
