Brought my dog in for a scheduled grooming for the third time. Upon advisement based on the notes from the previous 2 grooming we made an early appointment so they would have ample time to take the care needed to groom my dog as she us a long haired Maltese who had become matted. We arrived early and then were told by the groomer that she would not preform the service because it was going to be too hard. That's the whole reason they are here! I didn't train to groom pets.... So unless it is something you can do on your own or the groomer is not hung over you may get refused as well.

I like this store! This Petco is my favorite pet store and I have been in several, this one was my best experience. The lady there, Rebecca, was very helpful with my purchase of several birds that day as well as products for the birds. I couldn't be happier with the purchase of my new Fancy Green Cheek Conure and parakeets that day. The lady that checked us out as well as the manager were all great! We have a large bird family and will be back to this store.

Mixed feelings about this location. The clerks are friendly, and when we get talking, they genuinely want to help me provide the best for my pets. I appreciate their passion! But some downers: This location is frequently understaffed, and I feel like I wait a LONG time before I get help. Someone "must" remain at the front, so they can't come help me. And others are up on ladders or pushing pallets, restocking shelves. Please don't make me feel like I'm interrupting your work when I finally find you and ask for help -- I am the customer, and I'm supposed to be a priority over your restocking tasks. Pet and Product knowledge -- I'm having a problem coming in, asking for advice / education, following the info I've been given (or using the product suggested), then when my fish (plural) die and I come back for a refund, I'm told an entirely different set of advice, like I've done it all wrong. One tells me the fish needs no heater, no filter, no bubbles, no water treatment (that sounded fishy to me, pun intended). When my betta appeared sick, I came in and, after being scolded about how people don't understand they're a tropical fish, spent $80 on a heater, anti-biotic, pH testing supplies, water conditioner, salt, thermometer... I accept that these are the proper tools/supplies that I need to make a good home for my pet, by why isn't the entire staff trained to give me the proper info in the first place, and CERTAINLY not treat me like a rebellious child who doesn't deserve the responsibility of caring for an animal because (despite following the advice given) I messed up my pet's environment? This further occurred when I got a larger tank, and wanted to create a community tank for my betta. I researched proper tank mates on-line, then spent half hour with staff choosing who could go in the tank. First, everyone got sick because the instructions that came with the store brand's tank say to set it up and run it 24 hours before adding fish (staff later explained ammonia and nitrite spikes, and that it should run up to ONE WEEK with no fish). So when I brought back ALL THE FISH THEY SOLD ME -- WHICH HAD ALL DIED -- I was told (by a different clerk) none of these could be in with a Betta, and I had ALOT of preparation to do with the new tank before I could add fish. CURRENTLY: The male Betta lives by himself in the small tank, and he's happy, and the chemistry is all good. The 10 Gallon is a Betta Sorority (all females) with a loach & pleco. They all do great. But I built this community WITH FISH FROM WAL MART, because they're so much cheaper, the return policy is the same, and because the Walmart staff doesn't know ANYTHING about pets, I don't get conflicting advice. (I get no advice at all, I just keep reading posts from successful fish-keepers on-line.) CONCLUSION: I'll still come in. I still like the staff. They need more training, and a focus on Customer Service. But I'll probably buy fish and supplies elsewhere, hoping to skip the different advice offered by different clerks.
