Physicians’ Care Clinic is the oldest and largest charitable clinic in DeKalb County, GA, serving low-income adult residents who have no health insurance.
The Physicians’ Care Clinic was founded in 1992 as an initiative of the DeKalb Medical Society and today operates as a 501(C) 3 nonprofit organization. The clinic medical facility, administrative offices, professional medical services, and pharmaceuticals – together valued at nearly $1 million annually – are donated to PCC, and make it possible for the clinic to provide primary health care to low income and uninsured county residents who cannot access medical treatment except through hospital emergency room visits.
The mission of Physicians’ Care Clinic is to provide DeKalb County’s low income, uninsured adults with access to quality, comprehensive, non-emergency medical care delivered with excellence, and in a compassionate and dignified manner.
Oversight for the PCC is provided by volunteer physicians and other medical professionals and community residents who serve on the clinic’s Board of Directors. In addition to in-kind donations, operating expenses are paid for through philanthropic gifts from individuals, foundations, and local businesses and corporations that believe in the mission of the PCC and want to help disadvantaged DeKalb County residents receive the health care they critically need.

It is the recipient of numerous awards from the Georgia Hospital Association, the Georgia House of Representatives, and the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. In 2003 it received the Georgia Hospital Association’s Community Leadership Award.
