Providing fire protection, suppression, and vehicle extrication services to the City of Pikeville, local communities, and throughout the Sequatchie Valley.

Mission

The Pikeville Volunteer Fire Department’s primary mission is to provide an efficient and reliable fire protection service to and for all Pikeville citizens on a nondiscriminatory basis. The department will work closely with the Legislative Body of the City of Pikeville to ensure equal and fair protection to citizens in all parts of urban and rural areas of this community and Bledsoe County.
By providing such protection and coverage, the department hopes to build strong relationships in its respective community and assist in lowering homeowner insurance through insurance class protection ratings. The department will strive to never jeopardize the safety of the public nor its membership in an uncalculated manner while performing the tasks associated with our emergency and non-emergency missions.
The department will provide a stable and trained membership of volunteer firefighters that are prepared to respond when needed. All firefighters are expected to participate in training and community projects related to our tasks. The officers of the department will assist local, state, and federal investigating agencies in relation to fire incidents within the district. When requested, the department will respond to mutual aid calls to both other districts, and other neighboring cities.
The department will strive to provide excellent public education programs for fire prevention and safety to schools, civic organizations, and public events. The department will keep on hand brochures, videos, and other materials that can be utilized to relate the importance of fire safety and prevention. Public exhibitions will further be utilized to allow the citizens to see the effectiveness, preparedness, and equipment of the department and also become acquainted with the membership.
The department will maintain up-to-date equipment and remain informed of changes within the fire service to provide the highest level of safety to both the membership and citizens. The membership will maintain equipment and apparatus to perform effectively and professionally. Although volunteer, the department will conduct business as a professionally operated organization that serves a customer base. The department will never differentiate from this professional basis as people’s lives and emergency scenes do not differentiate between whether an employee is being paid or is a volunteer. The Fire Service is a “Profession” and the Pikeville Volunteer Fire Department is a Professional organization.
